Don't know whether this has been posted previously - but for fans of Tommy and Larry - this is a gem - Tommy Farr endlessly attacking tenacious to the last outworks Gains who's carrying a hand injury I beleive http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=8040 and this is a link to footage of Tommy Farr struggling a little with the class Lloyd Marshall http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=34811 Last but not least aging Tommy Farr bravely hanging with a Don Cockell in my home town of Nottingham - Cockell shows some good tough attacking and pressure http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=30783
Thanks for posting. I would give anything to see the entire Marshall-Farr fight. Lloyd looks amazing. He's loose as a goose here, feinting and rolling and potshotting Farr all over the place with hard blows. Always looking for the openings. Outstanding stuff. :good
I love Lloyd Marshall, he is among my top favs. Anyhow I believe a top form Farr beats Marshall, 10 years out is a long stretch. Incidently that ref in with Cockell and Farr, the same ref who raised Turpins hand against SRR, is on record of saying "but for the war Bert Gilroy would have well won a world title!" it sure would be nice to see footage of him citca 1938-45/46, there was damn near a fight between him and Marshall too, that Solomons made sure never happened. Again promoters controlling boxing and cheating fighters, fans and history!!!
yeah he's total class - I have the Marshall-Freddie Mills fight too - he looks really good in that - Mills takes a shellacking But Marshall he was really great - there's another fight of his somewhere on youtube where he's fighting a german guy I think - outdoors and he does that bouncing off the ropes trick in that one too - made me laugh when I saw him doing it in this one aswell but he was a great great fighter
Lloyd destroyed Mills conceding10lbs to him,he floored him 4 times and ko'd him in 5rounds ,he would have annihilated Gilroy ,who was never more than domestic class.
