Well his resume is much better than Cleveland Willliams. I would make Gibbons based on his style and his resume a strong favorite in that matchup. I could also see him winning on points vs Ingo. Tough to call. Patterson and Quarry have deep resumes in the modern game. I can see why people would favor them, but I wouldn’t count Gibbons out at all.
I would give him a decent chance against all those men. He was a brilliant boxer, who Gene Tunney admired for his skills. His power was exceptional at 175, albeit he didn't necessarily carry it up. He had a chin like an anvil. You kind of wonder how he ever lost to men his own size, but you kind of know that the answer is Harry Greb. Yes he was exactly the kind of fighter, that those opponents woudl get mixed results against.
Yeah I personally don’t see him getting stopped by any of them but Dempsey’s size and strength (and low blows lol) also proved to be overwhelming.
He'd win one or two of these. Even though heavyweight wasn't his forte, he was that damn good. And he had pop.
