I don't think Ketchel could outpoint or knock out Gibbons. His defense and chin were too good and he was too good a boxer. He had good power, too, and his resume is better than Ketchel's. He beat the likes of Greb, Norfolk, Levinsky, Miske and Carpentier. I think a decision for Gibbons would be the most likely outcome.
I concur. Dempsey did well on the inside against him but couldn't stop him and later attested as to how "clever" he was. If Dempsey couldn't stop him, I don't quite see Ketchel doing it.

from what i saw of gibbons, he was a solid boxer and appeared to have a good chin. ketchel from what i saw couldnt fight. gibbons by wide ud or late stoppage.
