    Where should we rank him?

As a heavy or light or modern day cruiser?

I feel he is a very over looked master of the ring.

    Hah. Didn't see that.

I just finished the Miske book, also. Someone needs to do a book on Gibbons. Did you read the quote wherein Tommy said Dempsey wasn't all the press made him out to be and that Miske wasw better? Sounded like sour grapes to me but still funny.

I think i re-typed that quote on the second page of that thread, or one similar. I think it's interesting that the closest they came to a prime for prime meeting was their closest fight, listed (all be it in error according to Moyle) as a draw on Boxrec.

    Did you enjoy this book?

Vic, he is in my very top FIVE...In 106 bouts Tommy Gibbons, noted for his great boxing, kod 47 men including kid Norfolk and was NEVER stopped until his final bout with a prime Gene Tunney when Gibbons was 34 years old...
There is a clearer version of Gibbons koing Jack Bloomfield with devastating effect.. Tommy at his best has a good chance against any LH who ever lived I say...
P.S. What does this say about lil Harry Greb who spotted Gibbons about 12 pounds and whippelhim a couple of times ?

Yes, very nice, illuminating read that fleshed out the feel of time for me.

Gibbons certainly seemed in a different class than the rest. And Miske is not one to be forgotten. I would love to see some footage of him. There were snippets of the Dempsey fight posted on here earlier but they have been taken down.
