this is probably the worst match up for mayweather. brilliant fast, jab, destructive right hand, combination punching, movement and the physical attributes needed to box on the outside. i don't see mayweather seeing the final bell

I pick Hearns to win here also but lesser fighters than Floyd have seen the final bell against Tommy, I'm not saying Floyd won't get knocked out, but its not a given that he does.

true but a motivated hearns, the one that took out cuevas, i see him landing that right. leonard beat him by turning fighter. i just don't see mayweather doing that. he'll shell up, turn defense and get stalked by tommy. sooner or later, he'd find a home for that right and mayweather would offer nothing to deter or discourage him

I completely agree, Hearns is a stylistic nightmare for Floyd. Floyd won't be able to pot-shot Tommy in the pocket as he does with so many fighters because Tommy keeps him off with that long quick jab.

I think Floyd might have a mathematical chance if he can stay in it long enough, AND if Tommy tires out towards the end. Otherwise, Hearns' long jab rules this one. UD Hearns at the very least.

In a nutshell, at 147 this might be somewhat competitive. At 154...no need for comment.

Hearns has the height and reach advantages. He uses them very well. He is also effective at being agresive without giving these advantages up.
Mayweather is a great defensive boxer, who likes to counterpunch. He also has great speed and even better timing.
A Hearns victory seemes to be the most likely result in a 12 round bout. Hearns best rounds will be the early rounds. He tends to fade late. Mayweather tends to start slow and come on late.
I don't see Mayweather standing in front of Hearns so while a knockout is always posible with Hearns, I think this bout is more likely to see the final bell.
Hearns will open the fight agresive using his size advantages to stay out of harms way. I think that Mayweather will figure how to close the gap but the question is when? I think even if Mayweather figures out Hearns early he won't stay on the inside any longer than he needs to. In order to out point him. I think that Hearns controls the first 5-7 rounds. 1 or 2 rounds after that might be even or pick'em rounds. The remaing rounds will go to Mayweather. I think we are looking at a 7-5 or 8-4 win for Hearns.

Hearns crushes Mayweathers much vaunted defense, Leonard had his head boxed off until the 13th when Hearns gassed out & Mayweather is no Leonard. Tommy would jump on Floyd from the 1st ring a ding take ring centre then chase floyd into the ropes & slaughter him, Mayweather has nothing that could even remotely off-set the offence & jab of Hearns. Shoulder roll & pot shotting!!!! dream on:lol:

You'd have to jump onto Hearns chest & somehow navigate yer way in unscathed & that ai'nt Mayweather's M.O. He's spattered in 6 rounds MAX or sooner & absolute domination:deal

Hearns wins a wide UD, I'm sure there will be lots who pick Mayweather to get stopped but he'd fight negatively and be the best complete defensive fighter Tommy faced, so doubt there'll be a stoppage

Honestly i can't for the life of me see how Floyd survives:huh dreadfull style match-up, Leonard was hounded all over the ring but Floyd ai'nt got that sort of foot-speed on the retreat, deft feints just ai'nt going to do it here, he'll be eating the cobra's jab to chest & head while hearns looks to drop the axe. I can't even see any offensive strat for floyd & whats he got that could counter the Cobra's speed.....ZIP!!!

Out-reached Out-Gunned & Out-Sped with no hiding place, the minute he's hounded into the ropes Hearns will get him to the left or the right, Floyds sidestep to his left will be met with the Hearns goodnight kiss. Yer can't run from Hearns, he'll get yer!! Look at the state Leonard was in after 12.

The best defensive fighter that Hearns ever faced was Wilfredo Benitez who's a whole league above Mayweather:deal

Hearns will have his way with him but I probably would bet on Mayweather making the rounds more often then not...probably nearly every time to be honest.

As PP said he would fight super negative and would just look to survive. Floyd doesnt have a weak chin and his defense is very solid.
