Hopkins by late TKO. Hopkins will be able to take Hearns' power. Hopkins has better chin and far superior stamina.

I'd see this as a toss it up. These are one of those mythical matchups that are really hard to determine who would win. I mean sure Tommy had problems with brawlers like Hagler and Barkley, and Hopkins can brawl too, but Hopkins is a different fighter then those guys, he's more of a boxer then a brawler. And the only reason why Hearns was chiney was because he was thin in the legs, so if you hit him, it was easy to get Hearns off balance. But no doubt Hearns was a tough fighter who can take a hit, his war in his second fight with Barkley proved that. I think Hearns would win UD12, of course with me being bias. But Tommy is a whole different fighter then Hopkins has ever faced.

If Hearns is smart (like in the Virgil Hill fight), he wins a close decision. Pure boxing I think he can take it.

If he leaves his brains in the dressing room, and gets dragged into a shootout (like v Hagler), anything could happen.

Don't know if Hopkins has the 1 punch power to stop Hearns in that fight. That's a fifty fifty situation.

I think Hearns really has a good shot at an UD.

Hearns is a better fighter than all of the wins bhop had at 160.

I dont see Hearns getting stopped in 12 with bhop either. Hearns lost past round 12 in the first SRL fight by stoppage when SRL went to war with him. SRL had to go that route because he was being outboxed the rounds they boxed. Hearns lost the Hagler fight early when they went to all out war, with Hearns breaking his hand and takinga alot of shots.

It isnt Hopkins style to go all out like they did in the Hagler fight. Hops will want to box with him and I can see that jab, reach, power and pretty good speed of Hearns giving hopkins trouble.

I think the fight would go either Hearns UD or Hopkins TKO. Hopkins could get the TKO using his rough house tactics and some good body shots to wear down Hearns. I dont see him outboxing Hearns though.

Finally, Hearns didnt loose every big fight. The rematch with SRL took way to long to happen and even SRL admits that Hearns should have gotten the win. Everyone remembers the Duran destruction and he has other good wins as well, including vigil hill way up at 175.

Hearns also beat benitez and cuevas, both hall of famers.
In his two big losses he gave hagler and leonard hell.

Hearns via decision his reach, jab and speed would enable him to control the pace of the fght and outbox bhop.

Hopkins takes Hearns out. Hearns is a very good boxer but he has an absolute glass chin. Hopkins being a smart, very smart boxer takes his time and waits for Hearns to let down on his defenses and nails him flush on the chin and Hearns is history. Haggler showed the world than when pressed hard enough you can penatrate Hearns defenses and attack his weak spot, his chin. A Haggler vs Hopkins fight would be a better fight. Haggler would press Hopkins and give him the very best test of his entrie career. Hopkins longivity in the ring is something you don't see often, Hearns still fights today but in almost absolute obscurity.

Two of my all time favorite fighters. I think Hopkins takes this, probably by late TKO.
