Hearns would have got thru to Curry's chin relatively early and starched him. Tommy is the worst matchup at 147 i can think of for Donald.

I personally believe Mr Hearns decapitates Donald.

At his peak Curry was seen as the best next opponent for Hagler, people kind of forget how he was viewed at the time.
I'll go for Tommy because of his great reach advantage and jab but Curry for while at least, was a very ,very fine welter.

I think he was a sensational Welter for a short time, but i still think Hearns is allllll wrong in this one. I could see Curry giving SRL a very tough fight and most anyone else at 147, ever. He was handily outboxing McCallum and hurt him noticably a couple of times before being caught. This came i guess at a time when his best was (shockingly) behind him.

Agree 100%. But Tommy has large stylistic advantages over Donald. I also believe it's a very good welter v an atg one.

I tend to think that most Welterweight, Head-to-Head match-ups involving Hearns favor the Hitman. Only a handful of Welterweights in history would seriously compete with him, in my opinion.

This is one of those fantasy match-ups, where Curry, for my money, is on the cusp of being in that group of exceptions - just not quite. He had the tools. I just think he's never able to catch up and get to grips with Hearns.

I would imagine the Hitman would have a more detrimental effect on Curry's career than what Honeyghan did as he would find his chin pretty damn quickly no matter how well prepared he was and, as was shown later in his career, Curry's chin wouldn't hold up at all well against Hearns bombs. Hearns at WW is a tough proposition H2H against any WW there's ever been.

Agreed. In this thread Donald is vastly underrated. Yes Honeyghan destroyed him but DC
preparation was terrible with weight , managerial , personal problems. That fight ruined
DC. The DC that destroyed McCrory was clinical. In a fight similar to Hearns vs Benitez
Hearns boxes his way to a unanimous decision. Alot of respect from both fighters in a
fight that only pursuits would like.

Before curry ran into Honeyghan he was seen as the best at any weight so going into this fight say 84 ish it would be tough call on who would win this super fight .The hit man would probably win by Ko but I wouldn't rule curry out great power and speed and excellent boxer.Pity it didn't happen would of been awesome.
