appologies if this thread has recently been doen...

after reading that article on the main page bout Pacquiao VS Hearns it got me thinkin bout how a prime Tito would go against The Hitman at Welterweight...

Both were big welters (obviously Tommy the bigger of the 2), both had great punchin power, both come forward boxer punchers, both had shaky chins... and both liked to fight.

    So who do u think???....

I think it would be a top notch fight but wouldn't go the distance.. each fighter would have their moments and land some good shots (possibly even puttin the other down) but I'd lean towards Tommy to fight tall use his reach and keep Trinidad at bay eventually landin his right and puttin Tito down for the count in the 2nd half of the fight.

(also im at work at the moment i wont be able to participate much in thread for a good 8 hours or so lol hopefully its still alive by then)

Hearns... The guy who was outboxing Sugar Ray Leonard for long stretches? Him?

    He wins.

I love to watch Trinidad fight and he always puts on a show..or trys. But the fact is Hearns was bigger and faster then Tito. Also he would keep him at bay with the jab. That was one thing that Tito has had a hard time with. A good jab. Hearns would KO him about the 4th round....not to say Hearns wouldn't be rocked a few times..but all the tools are with Hearns.

I say Hearns. But Tito has puncher's chance. Tito wasn't a great boxer like Leonard, but he was taller, longer arms, and hit harder

Well said, and I agree with your guess that the Hitman dispatches Tito, probably in spectacular fashion.

At 147? Tito would have paralyzed hearns. Every one knows Tito wasn't the most technically sound fighter. But his power not only knocked people out but ruined careers. Tito fought just as many hall of famers as hearns and only lost to two. Hearns would score with the jab and the straight and maybe even drop Tito. But once Tito lands the hook hearns would be floppin around on the ground like he always does whenever he gets nailed with a good shot.

Trinidad DOES NOT hit harder than Leonard.

@ 147 Hearns was only hurt by one person... Sugar Ray Leonard. You don't know ****.

Hearns had better one-punch KO power, speed, jab, movement, and skill. And if he drops Tito, Tito isn't getting off the hook. There is no such thing as surviving a KD against Hearns. Once he knew you were hurt, he went to work with precision. Look at how he threw two body shots at Duran before he crakced him with the hammer...

I can't see Tito making it out of the 3rd round.

In fact... I honestly think he is still 50-50 against Sugar Ray Leonard. Some of you clowns need to wrap your head around that for a minute. Everyone, including Leonard agrees that he should have won the rematch.

And to this day, you would have people going 50-50 on a hypothetical rubber match. with arguably one of the greatest WW ever.

And this shouldn't be taken as a slight against Tito, cause he was dynamic in his own right. But Hearns is simply not a matchup that would have worked out well for him.

So why are you telling me this? Hearns would be a stylistic nightmare for Trinidad. I honestly think Tommy would treat Tito just about the same way he treated Duran. No respect, no mercy.
