Eddie futch said that Williams was the best Thing he ever saw in a Boxing ring. the Thing is that i never saw him fight, only read Reports. stylewise i think this favours Tommy. Williams wasnt a Puncher......and outboxing a prime Tommy was a tall order for everyone!! the way to beat Tommy was to go for his shaky chin. but that wasnt Williams game. so stylewise i fovour Tommy. but out of respect for futch…...i´ll go for Williams.
anyone else know Holman and his era .. cmon people he is credited with help developing Louis' jab and doesn't really get talked about much here .. would he outbox hearns .. he was said to be very technically sound

When he went down again from another right to the jaw, the fight was stopped. Moore had Williams hurt in the 3rd round, before Williams use left jab and boxing skills to win the 5th and 6th round. With the fight even up to that point, Moore battered Williams in the 7th, 8th, and 9th round. Moore was the aggressor throughout and sportswriters at ringside differed with the official decision and gave Moore the slight edge in the going. Heavier and stronger than his opponent, Moore had the fight all his own way at first and piled up points as he kept boring in on Williams. Williams got going in the 5th and offset Moore's rushes by sharper and faster punching. In the 6th Moore dealt Williams hard blows to the body and head. The 7th and 8th rounds went to Williams after referee Eddie Leonard called low punches on Moore." -Associated Press The Baltimore Sun favored Moore 5-4-1 in rounds, feeling he landed the harder punches and forced the fighting. Williams was an elusive target, and boxed beautifully in the early part of the fight. Moore had the advantage later with his sharper punching, and in several rounds drove Williams to the ropes where he landed with both hands. Burley, making his first start since March, made a fight of it in the early rounds lashing Williams' kidney area with smacking rights. Burley, an 8-5 favorite, took the first two heats in a romp. Williams took over in the 3rd, relying mainly on short, sharp blows. While Williams' punches didn't carry the sting of Burley's, they were far more numerous. There were no kncockdowns." -Associated Press Murderers' Row (boxing) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murderers'_Row_(boxing)
Hearns, at MW, would have probably lost a few if thrown in with Holman, and Murderer's Row, being those guys fought each other so many times. In a one shot fight situation at MW, going with Williams in a close UD (plus Futch thought the same thing).
