Manfredo was dazed from the constant drumming on his head, he had a vacant expression and I doubt he knew where he was, the ref was 100% right to stop it when he did or Manfredo was getting severely hurt.
hearns 168 record is not that stellar he beat a well past it james kinchen by very close descion drew with leanord although i had him beating leanord in that fight beat michael jackson lookalike olajide and lost to barkley by ko after running out of gas beating barkley upside the head.
Well call me old fashioned , but I am happy they thought of Manfredo's health first, he couldn't even defend himself, he was completely out of it, like he just had a dozen pints of beer one after the other.
Calzaghe would beat Hearns pretty easily at 168 - Hearns wasn't that great there. We all know that Hearns was the better p4p fighter by a distance, but FFS, be real here.
I think Calzaghe takes this, just, very close fight though. Against Hagler on the other hand, Calzaghe is getting KO'd.
This was not Hearns prime weight, but Hearns was a better sharper fighter than Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe is good but Hearns could punch and was sharp. I think in this fight Joe finds out how the canvas feels after Hearns lands a right hand punch which wobbles Joe, and then a second one which deposits Joe on his seat. Joe would make it a decent fight and keep getting up but I think Hearns would just demolish him and the ref would call it off. Just too much sharp punching with Hearns, but I do not think Hearns would have a Duran type knockout. It would be a stoppage because of Joe's heart. Stylewise. Calzaghe cannot compete with a Hearns caliber. The guys who beat Hearns had power.
Calzaghe easily beat Roy Jones and got the better of Bernard Hopkins who beat Pavlik. So there's no way in hell this guy Hearns gets anywhere near Joe.
Calzaghe wins and its not even close, could well stop him late. People picking Hearns via KO are dumb haters.
I'm joking by the way, interesting fight. But people who speculate that Calzaghe gets KO'd are just wishful thinking. Joe has never even been on wobbly legs and has got up from all his knockdowns seemingly without any real effect on him physically or mentally. In all of the rounds he's been knocked down in, you could argue that he won the remainder of the round after the knockdown. To say that ANYONE stops Calzaghe has no basis for their arguement apart from pure speculation. There is just no precedent for stopping Calzaghe as nobody has been anywhere near close enough to do it. Probably Eubank was the closest but that was Joe's lack of experience at going 12 tough rounds. Jones hurt him with a forearm smash and Hopkins dropped him with an absolutely well timed shot but neither came anywhere near finishing him.
I guess I've gotta go with Joe here. SMW, huh. Hmm .. no, no, I'm sure, Joe's the favorite. On points .. close though. How 'bout if Tommy wasn't fifty, say only 40?
Joe by late stoppage.Hearns was a great fighter but his best weights was WW and LMW.Why do people keep picking Joe to get KO'D hes never even been close to being stopped.
1st off, Joe does not have a great chin.....his chin is average 2ndly, no ****ing way that Joe Calzaghe can KO Tommy, because he has no power..... and last theres even less of a chance of him outboxing Hearns.......i dont care if Tommy started off his career at 122lbs, no way in hell can Calzaghe beat The Hitman the real question here is, will Joe get knocked out, or will he be able to go the distance?
