    I'd take Hearns by UD.

In my mind, the only two welterweights in history who beat Hearns are Leonard and Robinson.

I always entertained the idea that Gavillan could weather whatever storm Hearns could throw at him and come on late to stop Hearns in the championship rounds whilst behind on the scorecards. A change in stance on my part may be in order though. I think Hearns takes enough steam out of Gavillan's ship meaning the late rally wouldn't actually end in a stoppage, therefore Hearns would take a close decision on the cards.

Gavillan definitely hit hard enough to stop a tiring Hearns, even though a quick glimpse at his record might suggest otherwise.

Gavilan wasnt a big puncher and he fought in spurts.

I think Gavillan hit plenty hard enough to stop Tommy, especially if he was tiring late.

Walker body attack and punching power combined with unearthly toughness KOs Hearns inside 7.

    Walcott
    Ross
    Napoles
Zivic dirty. Would blind Hearns and stop him.
    Basilio
    Griffith
    Rodriguez woefully underrated

None of these cats are sitting targets. They could fight. Hearns bad balance shaky chin and gut. He NEVER showed the toughness necessary. Sorry Hearns fans but yr boy is a bit of a frontrunner. I'd like to see Tommy fight 10 to 15 times a yr against good fighters like the old-timers. He' d collapse.

No doubt in my mind that Tommy would and could be up for the challenge.. He wasn't scared of a fight.. And he was an active fighter. If he stayed at 147 he could do it. And he's going to spark some guys out ..I could type out plenty of fighters that would collapse before Hearns .. No doubt you have a point that his hands and stamina might not last and he does get steamed rolled at times .. but he was only steamed rolled one time at 47 and that was against Ray and never at 54 .. If Hearns is healthy, he's getting in the ring with anyone you put in front of him … OP is a close fight for me .. I like Hearns dec

I see Hearns beating Gavilan a bit more decisively but in similar fashion to how he handled Benitez, controlling the distance and the action over 15 to win it more like 10-5 in rounds.

And a KO for Thomas is NEVER out of the question.

Basilio would be cut to shreds by Hearns jab.
Ross doesn't have the power and would be out- ranged
Griffith would make it close.Napoles very ,very close but a bit small for Tommy.
    One eye Harris gets schooled.
Who did Walker stop at 147 that makes you think he stops Hearns?
