How would 'The Hitman' do against todays best Welterweights Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao? I remember seeing an interview with Emanuel Steward and Steward said that there is no doubt in his mind that Hearns would beat Floyd. He also said that Hearns never had problems with boxers like Ray Leonard so he would have no trouble with Floyd. But what do you guys think? Would Tommy Hearns beat Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather? In my opinion he KO's both. Let me know what you think, cheers,
If he fights Manny first, he should be able to get him out of there in 4 Rounds... If you give him enough rest (maybe a couple of hours) then he should be able to UD12 Floyd. I mean, you are talking about the same day right?
Yeah, that was my only queation as well. There is only 1 Welterweight in history that I'd possibly favour over Hearns, and it ain't either of them two!
A lot of people say this. And that "1" Welter who people would favor over Hearns isn't even the man who actually stopped him at the weight. Then again, he wasn't favored to win either.
:huh You are talking about Leonard right? If I'm not mistaken, Leonard stopped him in the 14th (after being outboxed)... And yeah, even then, Leonard wasn't exactly favored. And had they had an immediate rematch, he wouldn't have been the favorite. They would have been 50/50 every fight.
Yes, Leonard. Despite the fact of what occurred, I've seen more than a few people (particularly over in Classic) say the only WW they'd ever favor over Hearns would be Ray Robinson himself. Not that there isn't logic to it: Hearns had only gone 10+ rounds three times in his first 32 fights and was well ahead on the cards through 12. He came in a little drained, but more importantly he'd never been taken into deep waters. Under modern conditions, he's already won right there. There's little reason to doubt Hearns outboxes Leonard through 12 nine out of ten times. I suppose a counter argument would be that Leonard knowing full well of the conditions, turns up the gas a lot sooner than the 13th. It wasnt as if he didn't already have Hearns hurt in the mid-rounds.
It rates as the second best win amongst all of the F4's bouts against eachother (even including Benitez to the mix), behind only Duran-Leonard I for me.
I think he would KO both, Tommy's height, power, reach, accuracy would destroy even Floyd. That is as long as Tommy fought the kind of fight he did against Duran.
