Well I understand your points, and they are valid, but Kessler is custom made for Tommy. Nowadays we all praise Kessler's jab, but Tommy would just shred him in a jabbing contest, and the right hand would not be far behind.
Why do people always pretend that Tommy was just as murderous a puncher at 168 whenever these threads are made? I always see people picking Hearns to knock out every big Supermiddle weight that gets put in these fantasy matchups, but the truth is Tommy didn't do that- he was scraping by guys like James Kinchen at that point in time. Here's a list of the good 168 and above fighters Hearns knocked out: That's it. His power didn't carry past Middleweight. Don't get me wrong, Hearns' P4P accomplishments far surpass Kessler's (and the other guys like Froch and Calzaghe he's routinely matched up with on fantasy threads), but that alone doesn't overcome the fact that Hearns just wasn't the same guy as he moved up- nor should he have been, as he was a fantastic welterweight and junior middleweight.
Doug DeWitt went 12 with Hearns @ 160. Kessler would go twelve with him @ 168. The "first round ko" comments are hilarious.
Very good post, 168 was not hearns' best weight and to think he would walk over Kessler is not being realistic, do I think he would have outpointed Kessler and won on decision, probably but to think he just kills kessler like some are suggesting is not realistic,.
It's possible Hearns could've won, if he could pull out another performance like he had against Virgil Hill - which was really Tommy's last hurrah of grabbing lightning in a bottle. If he did, like you said- it'd be on points. Inferior fighters to Kessler were lasting the distance by that point in time, and worse fighters were taking rounds off of him. Kessler winning wouldn't be the shock of the century it's getting treated as. :good
Exactly! we see all these fantasy fights pops up constantly! Normally with Klitschko and Calzaghe vs "golden age" ATG american boxers! its getting boring, not see many threads with fights that could actually happend! but guess its just becourse no active american fighters can handle them today!:-(
So many here who knows "prime this prime this". 95 % knows for sure what the outcome would have been. Why is it then, that more than 50 % cant even predict the right outcome in resent fights like Pac-DLH, Taylor-Froch and Pac-Hatton?
I felt embrassed for Booradley after watching "***** shooling" video... I assume booradley felt somewhat smart after posting it? Hearns beating living **** out from welterweights and small middleweights, nice.atsch
Because the majority of people here don't know boxing prior to 2000, unless it's something they watched on Legendary Nights, Youtube clips, or Beyond the Glory.
But can Hearns handle Kessler's power? Hearns was KO'd twice at 160, also hurt at 160 by the slow Roldan, dropped and hurt by Kinchen at 168, hurt badly by Leonard at 162, etc... Plus, it wasn't like every guy getting hit by Hearns was going the way of Shuler, Duran, and Roldan. There were others who took them and lasted the distance, or even came back to stop or hurt him.
Shut the **** up NOOB. I left more boxing knowledge in my dirty shorts this morning than you'll ever have in that tiny little pea brain of yours. Embarrassed for meatsch ****in' ****** -- water Head mother****er. Get back in your mother's basement!
