What good fighters was Hearns destroying at 168 and 175?

I'm one of the biggest Tommy fans around but even I can see that Kessler could potentially be a rough fight. I think Tommy can certainly win, easily on points if he can keep out of the way of Kessler's big shots. For me it's either Kessler early or Hearns by UD though a stoppage by Hearns can never ever be ruled out.

    That's a fair post.

There's not much I ever rule out, and while a Hearns stoppage wouldn't be one I would completely eliminate, I don't think the actual record of how Hearns was at 168-175 would dictate as many people as there are actually picking Hearns as lopsidedly as they are. I'm not one to dis Tommy in the slightest, but it looks like some gigantic rose-colored glasses are being sported when he's getting picked to KO Kessler that early and often.

The Virgil Hill fight was arguably one of Tommy's greatest accomplishments, but that one fantastic performance alone doesn't change how beatable Tommy was at the higher weights. And there's no shame in that- but even an ATG level fighter at Welter and Junior Middleweight are going to have at least a rough time with any very good Super Middle, even if they can win.

Yeah, cause Mayweather, Cotto, and Pacman are better than Leonard, Duran, and Hearns, right?:rofl:rofl:rofl

    You're a fool.

A prime Tommy Hearns at 147-154 right now would be the P4P king.

Hearns is a champion's champion. Kessler doesn't deserve this comparison

Yes, because a 6-1-1 record at 168 and 175 is clearly much better than a 41-1 one.

don't blind yourself with such pinpoint stats. Hatton had a 44-0 record at 140 and Pac was 0-0

I'm a big Kessler fan. I think he could last the distance based on his big frame... But still imo its not a worthy comparison.

Pacman is a champions champion, so I guess he would also beat Kessler.

KO in the first 10 seconds, right?

And gee, Fighting Harada, he was a great fighter a long time ago, so I guess he also beats Kessler.

KO before the fight even begins? They touch gloves and Harada's sheer "I'm a historical great" power travels up through Kessler's inferior modern arms and implodes his brain stem?

Kessler wins - because he is much bigger. Why such an unfair comparison? Compare people the same size.

Hearns fought and won as high as cruserweight.

Yes, but Kessler is a level abov anyone Hearns beat at 168 and above. I am a Hearns fan, but let's keep it real.
