 hearns has a 4 inch height advantage and must have a fair old reach advantage as well.

gentleman, how does this fight pan out?

Hearns has the size and skill to out box, or even ko, Benn. I won't have a problem with people saying he would win.

Benn made it through a war with McClellan, it's not unreasonable to think he couldn't deal with the power of Hearns for a while. Hearns would win most of the rounds, and rock Benn on occasion. Benn would be losing when he'd find Hearns' chin and force a stoppage.

Yep. Got go with this. I don't thinK Tommy's chin would hold up. He has far superior talent of course, but at middleweight was very beatable. I think Benn would invite a brawl and Tommy, being Tommy, would go for it. Benn's chin, while suspect, was stronger at 160 than Hearns' and he was never really beaten in an all-out ding-dong. Benn late TKO 10 (scores: 82-88)

Benn by mid rounds TKO. I feel he would catch Tommy after Hearns out-boxes him early.

Benn would of been out in round 1 vs. McClellan if the ref hadn't dragged him back into the ring.

All credit where it's due for amazing recroupative abilities, though.

dragged him back in physically from the ring apron?

    or just in general?

if it's the first then i'm fairly sure you get extra time to get back in if you've been knocked out of the ring.

If I'm remembering correctly he literally grabbed ahold of Benn's arms and helped pull him back into the ring.

This fight can not go the distance there are 2 outcomes. Hearns by KO in 1-2 rounds or Benn by KO round 8.

Benn was knocked out the ring and got his feet tangled in the cables for the ITV commentary team. They helped untangle him but he got back into the ring alone within the 20 seconds he was allotted.

Many Americans have sadly tried to revise this into meaning he was unfairly helped. He wasn't he won fair and square!

I've seen plenty of fighters knocked out of the ring and tangled up, they weren't helped out, period.

I've always thought Benn's boxing skills where vastly underrated, he was never as one dimensional as some people claim, or at least in my opinion. Of course prime for prime Hearns would take this, but Hearns prime was not at 160 pounds, so for me Nigel would snatch the victory here. I watched the DeWitt fight again just before christmas, I think it would play out the same.

Although another part of me says i'm being crazy due to my favourable bias towards Nigel.

i think 168 nigel is very underestimated when it comes to skill and patience which both improved massively when he moved up, his bob and weave defence was most impressive at times.

when talking about the 160lb version you're basically talking about a madman who went out to the ring every time with the intention of ripping his opponents head off in round one.
