Since everyone around wants to act like Williams is the new Hearns, what would happen if he actually did fight Hearns? Here's my analysis. Both fighters come out flicking their jabs, Williams drops his left hand slightly and Hearns crushes him with an overhand right; dropping Williams like a sack of potatoes. Hearns wins, KO round 1. Thoughts?
As much as I like Paul Williams, he'd be open for one of Tommy's right hand straights. That punch was one of the most devastating shots in boxing history...if any remembers Hearns/Duran, that shot destroyed Duran, and he actually had a concrete jaw.
Yea Paul gets hit too much and against a puncher like Hearns I don't think the fight would end well for Paul. I'm not picking Hearns just because he is a retired legend, I'm picking him based off of my analysis. Hearns KO 2.
Hearns at welter would have taken william for breakfast, cotto for lunch and settled for a light supper in floyd.... Just go watch hearns v cuevas and hearns v ray leonard 1 for the answers to this riddle....
The campaign to now smear Paul Williams? I'm not sure who or what said that Williams is superior to Hearns but thats ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE.:nono Hearns RIGHT HAND was unlike anything seen at 47 in like FOREVER:yikes If his chin had matched his right, he would have been a real LIFE SUPER HERO.:scaredas: There are SIMILARITIES though, in that both are TALL BOXERS. Not too many come a long with their builds and have enough of what it takes to rise to the top in this business. Floyd doesnt wanna have to face a tall, rangy southpaw, with ability, volume, and great stamina. It's one ofhis nightmares, he might **** his shorts on the way to the ring. Now bring down the Undefeated Thomas Heans at 147:rofl Hey......Damn....somebody catch Floyd..... Floyd COME BACK, COME BACK........:bolt :bolt :bolt :bolt :bolt :bolt :bolt :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama :lama 24/7, 365!!!!
Hearns by murder. I also thought Williams was a new Hearns, but then I saw his performance against Margarito. He doesn't fight like Hearns.
Williams isn't ready for Hearns so this thread shouldn't be applicable until we see a prime Williams. BUT.... Hearns would likely win, but some of ya'll are underestimating Williams. The guy doesn't just throw 100 punches a round, he's also a master boxer. Look at the way he handled Margarito. Everytime Margarito got close, Williams would hook and spin. He has great footwork, and stamina that is out of this world. He's an alien in that department. He just needs work on when to place his powershots, but yeah, Hearns likely had the style to beat him, but that's not to say Hearn's was invincible, and in my opinion, and as we will soon see, there will be few welterweights in history that will be capable of beating Williams.
