Could Alvarez stand up to the hitmans power. I think he might you know. Great chin, excellent defense

Alvarez has better balance than Tommy and although he struggled against Kovalev who was only shoe shining for most of the fight he still got him out of there with one well placed shot. He then battered Smith so a height difference isn't bothering him.

Tommy couldn't stand up to the way Alvarez is punching at the moment I don't think. I love Hearns but think i might have to pick against him here.

Heans speed would be interesting to see, we have seen the likes of Khan outbox Alvarez for spells, Floyd did it for 12 and Heans as the ability and power to do that - but I just see him getting clipped at some point especially by someone who is good technically and will be in front of him making him miss at times.

Cool fight - they match up well.

Another silly comparison. Smith and Hearns are light years apart. You are making a good point about hearns speed though, that along with his jab, I see Alvarez haveing trouble closing he gap to land that perfect shot. Kinda you see what a shot Kovalev did - I think prime Hearns can do that for 12 rounds but more effectively

I was comparing them on height and reach nothing more.
In that against 2 taller fighters Canelo been able to find away to win - be that landing one huge game changer after taking an awful lot on his gloves against Kovalev or just getting inside and battering Smith which every way he wanted. - He couldn't do that against Hearns it would have to be more calculated and he would have to work the openings but Canelo has the skill to do that.

Silly grasp of my point. Hearn’s lacked durability at 160. Hagler crushed him. Barkley iced him. Kitchen had him hanging on for his life. Tommy lacked the chin and stamina at 160. That’s my point. Canelo beats him like a bigger Leonard. Much better chin, very talented guy. There are many who beat Canelo and I feel GGG was robbed twice but He’s the wrong match up for Hearns.

Tommy had better stamina than Canelo. To me, the style of Canelo would suite Hearns quite well. You are still pointing to barkley and hagler who went for broke and swarmed Hearns. Never in life would this happen with the style of canelo. you keep taking about kinchen, you are aware hearns won that fight?and kinchen went to fire taking flush right hands, you have any idea how canelo fights?

I don't see it too well. Canelo has the style to sit down there and take Tommy's punches and get hit with the jab. He looks great against the guys he fights, but they were not as fast as Hearns or as sharp a puncher. There is a difference in caliber of fighter. He is doing great and I give him credit, but that difference to me and the style.. He is overmatched against the guys he fights before he even fights them. This is not a great era in boxing, and others will say well he beats them so how would we know, but we knew beforehand these guys were no that top level.

Hearns had more one punch power than anybody Canelo has faced aside from Kovalev who didn`t throw any punches other than jabs v Canelo.

Tommy Hearns two greatest weaknesses were his chin and his stamina ... he learned how to race himself , clinch and do much better in fights he controlled but in give and take wars his stamina was not his greatest asset .. Canelo has exceptional stamina and proved it in give and taste wars , nit just fights he dominates .. that's my point and I was responding directly to another poster's claim.

Canelo gassed against BJS and started getting countered, the reason he gasses is that he puts so much into his shots.

This is so ridiculous. Anyone who saw both there careers from the get go knows Hearns wins. I dont get these answers here. Canelo fights guys that are always on the downside of there careers that's how he built his record. If people cant see that then theres no helping them.
    Mosley .past it
    Cotto .past it
G .made the guy wait a couple yrs and he still lost both times
    Jacob's past it.
Kovalev. So far past it that a strong breeze buckles his knees.
Absolutely ridiculous how so many people are feeding into his cherry pick show.
