    Joking aside.

    These two make an interesting comparison because one was a lineal champion at jr middleweight while the other was a lineal champion at heavyweight yet their careers played out over verry much the same weight range.

    Mr Hearns started his career at welterweight, but I rather doubt that he would have been able to get down to 147 in Burns's era. More likley he would have started to fight at world level at middleweight like Burns did.

    Hearns caried his power well up to cruiserweight which would have put him comfortably into the heavyweight picture in the Burns era. It would be interesting to see how Hearns could have done against Philadelphia Jack O'Brien at light heavyweight, and some of the heavyweight white hopes though I dont think he would have got past Marvin Hart like Burns did.

    Physicaly Hearns and Burns are about as diferent as you can get.

    My inclination is that Burns would win based on the fact that he would be up against the same physical disadvantages that he was in every fight and would be able to take Hearns's powe better than vice versa.

    As nicely as Hearns may be able to drop the right, Burns was also very fast and viscous, expect he was much stronger and would be able to infect Hearns' comfort zone.

    Out of his sqauted position he would start to plunge in the right and crumple up the hitman.

    Burns would tear into him and break him down. Tommy stood up to a lot of abuse from the much bigger and stronger Johnson. Hearns would not have much, comparatively, to offer in opposition.

    Burns was a strong man, I think at 170 Burns would be too much, fast strong and durable....Hearns excelled at 147-154

    Sounds about right to me. Didn't Burns once KO a Man who weighed 300 lbs. or was that Fitzsimmons?

    Your not kidding, man. It's shameful no one has brought that into the open before. Hearns/Burns. Holy ****. Just...Holy ****ing ****.

    I think Burns wins by KO after some shaky moments.

    Hearns is one of my favorite fighters, but Burns is probably too strong for him.

    Hmmmmmm.... I imagine Burns has got to be as strong as Hagler was.?.? Burns, like Hagler, was built for wrestling more so than boxing...... However, I'm not sure that Burns would rush Hearns like Hagler did in 1985........ If Burns stays outside the pocket with Hearns, Tommy Hearns picks him apart.... If Burns somehow turns the fight into a phone booth war with Hearns backed to the ropes, well, maybe Burns wins.?.? It's hard to call this match......
