How great would Tommy Hearns have been with an iron chin?

I am thinking he would possibly have won a Heavyweight title.

Also he could have been the P4P greatest of all time.

    Maybe you should start.

The frame that can make 147lbs in a healthy athletic way, is not one that is going to be viable against Heavyweights especially that short one who dominated the late 80's.

Not really sure how Hagler-Hearns goes if they have equal caliber chins. Hagler was getting the better of it up close in the first round. He had to take it up close because his usual methodical boxer style wouldn't work, Tommy was too difficult to box at range and best when he got distance on that right hand.

Hearns started trying to box on the backfoot in round 2, and Hagler kept getting to him. Was it because of Hearns's chin that he did this? His legs went rubbery at the end of the first from a Hagler right hand.

Did Hearns box on the backfoot because of his broken hand? Because he wanted to keep it at range where he had an advantage? Or maybe to work on the cut and hope it got much worse over a few rounds?

In the first, Hearns said he had to get Hagler's respect. He didn't seem to get it.

Was there in fact some substance to what Manny Steward said about Tommy's pre-fight leg massage?

I don't know really how much had to do with Hearns's mediocre chin and how much were other factors.

You are saying it all right here.. how is going to win the fight at all with a fractured right hand in multiple places.. the fight is over right then.. After was just the gravy. Don't forget he wobbled Hagler good

Don't forget he also had 163 amateur fights, golden gloves champ, and went 155-8 as a amateur .. complete career all around for The Motor City Cobra

p.s. -- and robbed in Hearns Leonard 2 ..imo
ya it was a close fight but Leonard was a lucky man that night to walk away with a draw after being on the canvas twice

He beats Leonard, but gets worn down by Hagler. He couldn't keep Hagler off of him and that makes it only a matter of time imo.

Barkley... Even with an iron chin he'd be hurt by taking a bomb flush and blind-sided like that. Question is if Barkley would have finished him off.
