Floyd would have nothing for Hearns. He couldn't rely on his defense because Hearns is longer, stronger, and just as fast. I don't want to go into a lot of detail here about what Floyd's defense consists of, but Hearns would use a similar or exact same style except he would press the fight, and eventually take Floyd out with an overhand right, left uppercut combination. It would actually be a brutal beating. This would be the worst possible opponent for Floyd and I don't see how Floyd would have any chance at beating Hearns. For Floyd to win, he would have take the fight to Hearns and do everything he can to test his chin. I don't know if Floyd has it in him to change his style in order to do his best to beat Hearns, and even if he does, I think he'll still come up short. SRL's win over Hearns at welterweight considering their styles and how they matched up against eachother may be the best win in the history of the sport.
SRL would do a good job on him too, particularly if they were fighting a 15-rounder. Though it would be a hell of a fight.
You know that a guy on this site actually called Hearns stiff and robotic and said he had nothing in his arsenal to trouble Floyd.
the only way to beat hearns at welter was to simply forget about boxing altogether and try to walk through him. not mayweathers style.
floyd never began his career at welterweight so its not a fair fight, a better match would be floyd vs duran/chavez at 135
a couple of days ago i said that i wouldn't be able to call it. but after thinking about it i now think hearns takes it because of his height, reach and power in that right hand. hearns for me is a sure top 5 all time welterweight, i don't think i could say the same about floyd.
wouldn't go that far. floyd at 135 was a far better boxer than the one at 147. would be close and i would say floyd on points.
Duran's upper body movement and feints would get him in and his power at 135 was unbelievable. Duran is the greatest lightweight of all time imo. I think he'd take Floyd at 147 as well
Right. Remember how much difficulty Duran had with SRL in the second fight when SRL outboxed him. Floyd would drive him insane.
