I wish he'd fight some guys at 147 to help enforce that notion....

It would be nice if he turned that theory in to a reality.

    Carlos Baldomir
    Ricky Hatton
    Oscar De La Hoya

All champions at the time. What are you talking about?

Ricky Hatton at 147 was a joke. If you don't believe that then you might as well not even reply to this post.

Baldo was a quick title win and good for him.

Oscar was a fight at 154 and doesn't count here since we're discussing 147.

Floyd is the top welterweight in the world....so shouldn't he fight top welters?

he's also top P4P fighter in the world....its consensus pretty much....and he has proved that......i do agree he needs to fight Cotto but honestly after Cotto there is nothin left.....cant fight "out of prime" fighters he gets blasted...can't fight someone after they come off a loss gets blasted cant fight a champion either for some apparent reason lately none of the champs were that good anyway....the guy just cant win...there is always something.

I think PBF has the chin, and the defensive ability to last the distance, but he ain't winning against Hearns. Tommy matched him more or less in terms of hand speed, and could box at range very well from the outside.

Think Hearns-Benitez, and you get an idea of how this goes.

Well what the **** he's the #1 guy in the world he should be fighting guys who are at least in top **** contention.

I'm sorry if I hold Floyd to a higher standard then I do someone like Bute or Gamboa who are prospects by expecting him to fight the top guys at his weight class. Floyd is the P4P #1. We get it....so he should fight guys who actually stand a chance to do something to him. The idea of rematching Oscar and Hatton...two fights that are no way near as close as the HBOts think they were is stupid. It's a money move which is nice and all but I doubt Floyd is going broke. Sides Floyd is on his way to becoming an ODLH style draw. Fights against Cotto, Margarito or Vernon Forrest will draw because of him on their own merit. I don't want to hear this "fanbase" nonsense because that's what it is.

I guess I miss the days where the top fighters actually had intentions of fighting each other.

Floyd would win 4 rounds but Leonard didn't even win that many over 13 prior to stopping Hearns in the 14th? Benitez didn't win 4 full rounds in my book either over 15. Floyd doesn't last the full 15 or even 12, nor does he win a single round unless Hearns takes it off. I mean that legitimately, he is completely outmatched here.

If they were the same size it would be a pickem fight but I would have to root for Tommy. He was the man! :good

This is probably the worst match-up i could think of for Mayweather, there is absoloutely nothing he could do. Hearns TKO5 after winning every round.

floyd over hearns at 147:deal floyd had the heart and the offense to take it to tommy even in his prime. tommy would try and out box the master boxer and it would not happen.
