Thanks for that. You really are a fan of the era SQ aren't you? I like how he works in his amount of battles with Greb. Thanks again.
Loughrans comments are very interesting and intelligent. The usual Nutritional advances and other arguments are interesting, but i thought the most interesting comment was that the modern fighters were faster than the older fighters. Also, it is strange that in an era where Marciano ruled the roost, Loughran thought there might have been a weakness among current fighters in that their stamina was not up to scratch!
Great stuff! Interesting isn't it him talking about the nutritional advantages and softer living fighters of the 50's had. What would he think now?
Loughran is tough to read because of all of the interviews I have with him spanning from the 20's to his death the guy never NEVER thought he lost a fight. That includes the ones he CLEARLY lost.
Loughran is brilliant to read in interviews, I have read afew and he really dosent like the next generation of fighters, he is like a Monte Cox but with ATG fighting skills (no dis respect to either guy just think they both have very similar views)
imagine advising kids to hook up with blinky palermo!! maybe tommy spoke as he found? tommy comes over as a good guy in his interview with peter heller years later. its great to read loughran, so descriptive for a fighter.
