It was a right cross to the chin, nearly perfectly executed. Loughran was still able to get up in a few seconds (although he couldn't continue).
Thanks mate, and lucky you quoted me as i see i have a gross typo there in the second sentence. I've fixed it a little thanks. I actually meant to say Foster beat a middleweight for the title at 175, which goes against Brownies big build up of Tiger as a great win for Foster and being a better opponent than Walker etc. Physically at their best they sit about the same so it boils down to the greater fighter. I like Tiger but will go with Walker. I've read quite a bit of him lately and am impressed. I still like Foster in this one but felt compelled to come in on the Walker/Tiger debate.
Is there really a film of that fight? I thought only 10.5 mins of Slattery vs Berlenbach exists, no other footage on Slattery.
Loughran had a great left. I don't think he looks that bad on flim at all. Why do you think Loughran looks bad on flim? Foster vs Loughran is a hard fight to call. Both could box well. Foster hit harder. Loughran had the better defense and mobility. On paper, you think Foster via KO is likely, however, Loughran beat guys like Max Baer, Jack Gross, and Young Stribling. These guys can hit. Loughran also went the distance with Carnera. I think this is mostly likely a close points type of match up. I would lean towards Foster on points, because I think his range and power would get Loughran's respect.
Actually, I was thinking of Loughran-Delaney, which has a couple of rounds available. Have no idea if Loughran-Slattery exists on film.
I don't know if i'd be quite that confident dmt, they'd be tough mate. Some decent fighters in Tommy's lot.
it was sarcasm since Suzie claimed Mina and Cotton were better then Loughran It's a joke to say that.
Just watched the Sharkey fight again, Loughran was outboxing him pretty handily, before he backed away in straight line and got caught like that (Sharkey was very nimble in that episode), and the referee saw Loughran get up and didn't continue the count (there were probably 4-5 seconds left until he'd reach 10), if he had, Tommy might have been able to recover enough to continue.
how do you see Foster doing vs Sharkey?? You do know that Tommy was fighting out of his weight division, right?
