These two guys were not only great lightheavy champs, but they were also all about going the 15 round distance. With Loughran it was only natural, because he had virtually no power and depended on his stellat boxing skills and his rapier left jab...but with Galindez, it was by way of choice...after clobbering poor Len Stinger Hutchins in Bolivian in winning the vacant WBA lightheavyweight title, he changed his style and became a masterful and dedicated counterpuncher....so I believe that more than likely this fight would have gone 15...but who would win?? I welcome your opinions...and the winner meets Billy Conn...and the winner of that fight faces Archie Moore and finall the winner of that one meets Ezzard Charles. Just sort of a limited tounament I have in mind here. But first, will it be the classic boxing master from Philadelphia or the counterpunching bull from Argentina?
Honestly this fight would have been a stinker with Loughran poking Galindez on the nose with his left jab and avoiding Galindez swings and hooks all night long. Woller
Well, at least you commented...and you may be correct, although I like both these fighters equally... Red Cobra
backing woller on this one. tommy had the jab and footwork to avoid galindez. strong, persistent and tons of stamina but he had ****ing t-rex arms and tommy had some all time great movement and a magnificent jab
Not only do you not decision Loughran by countering, you also risk some nasty cuts to your eyes on the end of Tommy's jab if you're Galindez. Rossman used his division best jab to go for Victor's battle scarred eyes, and openly admitted before their first match that this was his plan. Loughran was no Arguello when it came to slicing opponents up with his left, but if there's an ATG LHW candidate for a cut induced stoppage defeat at Tommy's hands, Galindez might be a viable choice. Otherwise, Loughran just pokes and clinches, pokes and clinches, pokes and clinches, in a dull affair. Guerrilla machismo off the ropes is not the tact to take with an operator like Tommy.
I'll go along with the consensus on this one...Loughran maintains his distance for the most part and takes a decision. If Galindez is able to get inside, he does make it closer.
Would Galindez have to reort to his old, wild, slugger style to cop this one? Like the style he used to hospitalize Hutchins?
Sorry but I think this is a wide ud for loughran his foot speed and movement and his continuous jab would take him to victory
I think he would have to...he has the ability to reach Loughran fighting like that...He wouldn't beat Loughran on his game at a distance.
