Wyoming has no commission, but the Association of Boxing Sanctioning Bodies (or something like that) threatened to file a lawsuit to enjoin the fight from happening, so they changed it so it wasn't officially a boxing match and thus the ABSB didn't have authority over it.
BoxRec removing it has nothing to do with the alleged fix. It has everything to do with the fact that it was not a boxing match, rather a fight under "modified muay-thai" rules. Watch the fight, Corey Williams throws some (very weak) knees and elbows. Better yet, don't watch the fight, it's crap.
"ive always been subject to 10x more critisism than anybody else.you know..because im white" -morrison
Well Tommy, you're also a hard hitting, hard partying heavyweight whose related to ****ing John Wayne. Like people weren't going to pay a little more attention to him than Joe Blow
That fight was deffinatly not a fake. I represent the sancitoning body for that event which was the WarriorRage KickBoxing Federation. But they did have to do a Modified Muay Thai event. Wich means no kicks, but we allowed elbows and knees. Each fighter would have to run 5 knee strikes each round to keep them within the rules of what would be considered kick-boxing. They Boxing commission would not give Tommy back his license, there was alot of politicle BS and to keep Tommy out of harms way, we desided to go with a Muay Thai match. Hopefully alot of the politicle debates have come down a bit. It sounded like things were winding down. The 4 days I was there , the Who's Your Dadde reps were constantly on the phone speaking to different officials, government intities and lawyers, primairly to counter all the dirty tricks that the boxing commission was doing. And they pulled alot of dirty tricks. There is far to much politics in the game any more. There's a hell of alot more politics in boxing than when I ran for the Senate. If you don't like politicle debates, then being a promoter or event coordinator isn't the job for you. It's much easier just being in the ring. Cory, before the match up was the Wyoming Muah Thai heavy weight champion. Tommy beet him in about a minute and a half with a knock out, with that snappy lift hook and now he's the Wyoming Muay Thai Heavy Weight Champ. Who's Your Daddy Promotions go the nuttsack to help Get Tommy back in the game. Both with them and the WRKF, we both know that he was illigable to be back in the sport full force and both look forward to his continued success in the ring.
with him being the promoter, some may say it maybe a conflict, thats one of the reason why I was there representing the WRKF as the sanctioning body. And it was something I did with out pay, so there was no questions of any conflict of interest. But, i'm not saying i'm going to do that without pay again, it cost me a chunck of change to get down there and help out with that.
If you wanna call that a real fight, go right ahead. I aint debating whether organizing the event was rigged or not, but those knock downs and the "kayo" was rigged as hell, probably more than likely to save Tommy's ass, considering the controversy. All the fight did was make his reputation all the more worse.
You are honestly calling that a real fight? Ive never even heard of your organization that you represent. If that is the quality of the matchups that you promote, I can see why you are unknown. That fight was an absolute joke. Calling Williams a "champion" of anything is ridiculous. The man is obese, out of shape, and didnt even look like a sparring partner in that "fight". Morrison still has yet to pass an AIDs test with any of the major sanctioning bodies and cannot secure a fight in any state with a legitimate boxing commission. His continuing "comeback" in the sport is shameful and degrading to the credibility of boxing.
Morrison's comeback is continuing after THIS? After he's won the Wyoming State Muay Thai Heavyweight Title? Nope, I don't see what there is left to prove. :huh
The Boxing Commissions aren't playing dirty tricks... Tommy Morrison is. You don't just get "rid" of HIV.
Tommy needs a fight that'll truly test his ability. I rewatched that fight and can't really be to judgementle on that. If we can get someone in there that can work him a bit more, then i'd have a more in depth detal on whe he needs to work on. To me, it looked like Cory should of been doing a quick step back and running the right knee. Thats were the it looked like there was a good opening. But both fighters did look liike the hung there hands a little low. He's gonna have to have a fight that'll test his endurance level. But watching that again, when I was there didn't see Tommy push Cory. I was doing alot of running back and forth. Just a little scare tactic to rattle someones cage. Iether they'll back down and turn into a wuss or they'll get mad and run after ya and usually run into punch. When someone does that, just keep your composior and work your strat. but, there's a big difference in a sancitoning body and promoter. I was just there to make sure that the fighteres were illigable to be there and that we went by a certain rules and regulations. The modification of the match up was ok, just as long as they kept it in the integrity of the sport and they did. The WRKF has been around sence 2006 and it's primary function is the Continuous Point Sparring, but all my officals and students get trained in many arts. Most of your martial arts programs only study one style of competition, we have our primary we work on, but it's part of my testing requirment that they also learn about the different arts such as pro-am boxing, the different styles of kickboxing, karate, Olympic Style Tae Kwon Do, Savate, gi - no gi grappling. So, when i'm at a event and I have my guys officiate, I know, no matter what program is being done, the officials are well versed in that stile. the officials that were there, wern't personally trained by me, but they did a real good job. But, I do have over 24 years in martial arts, wich also includes boxing. But, what I am trying to get set up, is if I sanction a event, or personally promoteand coordinate a event, then I will do a siminar for officials and it will cover crowd control and the local law enforcements are welcome to take my course. With the Who's Your Daddy Promotions, they signed on I belive two pro fighters that night, one with Tommy and another one with a femal MMA fighter. I can't remember her name, but her strikes are pretty solid. And then there was the Main event with a middle weight MMA championship fight with Fernando Rodrigues obtaining that belt with a TKO, moving his record to 18 and 5. That kids always a exciding fighter to watch, hell of a scrapper. After the event was over, I did get a chance to speak with both Cory and Tommy. Both in good humor, nobody seriously hurt. Cory said Tommy hitts harder than **** and I laughed at him and said "yeh it looked like it", then he gave me the stinky eye....lol.... But, there both pretty down to earth type of guys and handled things very proffessional. Tommy is looking at trying to be very active. He wants to compte every 6 weeks or so and I belive Who's Your Daddy Promotions can keep him that busy. But I belive Tommy's goal is to get his license for pro-boxing and stay with that. But if he got with the right kick-boxing instructor, I don't think it would be to much of a ujustment to get hims trained as a Muay Thai or pro kick boxer in another style, such as full contact or international rules.
yeh, Ithink on page 5 someone had a link to the utube video. Had me in there with the belt at the end of the fight, and i'd have to say, I look dam good... Lost 5 lbs doing the oatmeal , tuna and green tea diet plan. but, Tommy did look a little ridgid, probably a little nervous. He did one fight last year and just one fight the year before. But if he can stay with competing every 6 weeks or so, he'll get over that and calm down a litte. Do that and he'll be able to stay with a good stratigy.
