Tommy Morrison in I.C.U

Tommy should have really been an American icon and should have had a wonderful life... very sad to see things end up this way.

 

Why should he have been an icon?

Let's look at some facts:

When Morrison made his comeback in 2007, he had pectoral implants. Was this an attempt to try and look healthy? If he'd climbed the rankings, did he think people wouldn't notice? (Should you be taking punches to the chest if you have those things?)

Regarding his HIV status, he's said everything from, "I've never had HIV.", to, "HIV is part of the game.", to, "HIV is a myth." He has also refused to take mandated HIV test in several states, and at least one country, where he wanted to fight, therefore his scheduled fights in those places where cancelled.

He's had multiple drug arrests.

I think that his comeback has been nothing more than a big cash grab, maybe even to support a drug habit, and he's been willing to lie about his HIV status to make it happen.

Personally, I think his denial the existence of HIV is an insult to all those who have suffered and died from it.

I hope it pulls his head out of the clouds and manages to scrape together a decent life.

Maybe the reason why the mainstream sports press has barely touched Morrison is because they think his comeback and HIV stance are a joke. If he'd truly been misdiagnosed in 96, it would have been a notable story.

 

I too support Tommy, but I find it harder and harder to believe he is HIV negative, healthy, etc...

I don't know why Tommy got pec implants either. He's had them since about 2005. He used to also have calf and bicep implants. The only thing I can figure is that when he started getting muscle wasting due to HIV, he got the implants so he could still look normal.

Tommy looked okay up until about 2008. He had that weird top heavy look from steroids and the implants, but he didn't look like death warmed over. Since 2009-2010, Tommy has looked very very bad. Very pale and thin. When i saw the pics of him earlier this year, i didn't even recognize him almost.

If Tommy is up and walking around by the summer, then god bless him, maybe he can clue us in on what the past year and a half has been like for him health wise. I know Russ010 could do the interviews with him, i'd love to see Tommy be okay and just having gone through a bad spell, but i think part of me knows otherwise.

Tom Virgets described tommy from last summer as basically being the walking dead. He could not speak anymore, (due to a feeding tube), was down to about 100 - 120 pounds, just in terrible shape. I dont know what could have made him that sick, but i doubt it was the spider bite that Tommy's wife claims.

Why do you feel sorry for this guy? He chose to run around sleeping with whores unprotected and caught HIV. Who gives a **** about him. Its like if I joined a gang and then got killed. How is that sad? He chose to live a wreckless life style and look what happened to him. Then the piece of **** lied about not having HIV and boxed a few guys and could of infected them.

I don't feel sorry for him so **** him.

 

I'm not sure anyone deserves to waste away and suffer the cruelty of AIDS, regardless of the life they've lived. I'm sure that while he's been in his sick bed, he's come to terms with his poor decisions and wished for a second chance.

AIDS doesn't give second chances. It punishes you worse and worse each day, while robbing many of the support system that is required to at least cope with it.

It's cancer with a big ass scarlet letter on it.

Morrison has issues that many former Crystal Meth users have. As far as HIV. Those tests should be called "will react to over 100 different things assays" Crystal Meth happens to be one of those 100 things, that will make the test react positive. Meth use also compromises the immune system. Most Meth users don't have HIV. They react positive because of the Crystal Meth. Many of them do have AIDS, though, as Crystal Meth will compromise the immune system. You can get AIDS from many different things, like malnutrition, parasites, HIV medication, hardcore drug use, etc. etc. AIDS is simply one of the latest names for immune deficiency.
