If you go back and look at the Ring's annual rankings, he was only ranked twice, both times at number 9. I think Ring got it right at the time. He was a blip on the heavyweight scene.

A lot of people can't understand what they're seeing and how to interpret it. I have a cousin who is colorblind and another who is gay. So, I get where you're coming from.

What would lead you to believe he hits harder than Chisora?

I contend that Morrison was no better a fighter than someone like Jorge Luis Gonzalez. More dedicated with better management? Sure. But running away from a prehistoric Foreman like he did was embarrassing and tells you just about everything you need to know about him. Alex Stewart showed what a heavyweight with balls and power could do to comeback Foreman.

Ruddock was out of shape, inactive, and did nothing of note afterwards, plus questionable stoppage. Inactivity and being badly out of shape can negatively impact punch resistance so hard to know what to make of it.

He had Tyson level power. Real dip at the waist then explode into the shot stuff. Fighters don't punch like that nowadays. Not at heavyweight anyway. Zhang's got that sneaky Sanders power. Wilder is like heavyweight Tommy Hearns, all levers and elastic spring. Maybe prime Povetkin came close but he didn't have the spite on his shots that Tommy did, it was mostly technique, he didn't torque his whole body into the shot. Whyte does the torquing thing but he doesn't engage his legs. Tommy's left hook was legs, torque, technique, speed and spite. Very few left hooks came close.

Povetkin knocked out much better (and more durable) fighters than Morrison.

Who's the most durable guy Morrison ever stopped? Joe Hipp? That only required Tommy breaking both of his hands AND his jaw before winning.

I remember seeing that Gonzalez-Odum clip posted elsewhere years back. Someone in the comments section mentioned that Odum looked like a turtle stuck on his back when he was down, which is pretty accurate.

I think Morrison probably stops Gonzalez, though I wouldn't bet a ton of money on it.

Turns out Cane was a paper champion. Actually the same guy in real life who wouldn't leave the dressing room to fight The Duke, opening the door for Tomashek to get a shot.

I would love to have seen Tyson, tua, and Morrison, in all combinations

shame, none of those three ever faced each other

    Morrison hook was devastating

Povetkin knocked out much better (and more durable) fighters than a lot of big punchers. He was quality stats all round, not a min maxer like Morrison.

I don't think Morrison matches up well with those two. Both had solid chins, and it would take an accumulation of a lot of punishment, over several rounds, for Morrison to have any chance at all of taking either guy out. Problem is, Tommy doesn't have the chin or stamina to hang around that long with either of them. Think Mercer-Morrison, but worse.

Tyson-Tua would have been fun for sure. Tommy is at least a level below.

Dumb post. Second career Foreman took Michael Moorers best power shots, Cooney’s, Briggs and ate 17 unanswered bombs from Holyfield. Using not KOing 2nd career George as a gauge of power is a Herp Derp comment if I’ve ever seen one.

Mercer said Morrison hit him so hard to the body he vividly remembers farting loudly in the ring. And that left hook Duke landed on Ruddock was as nasty as it gets. Put Ruddock to sleep and when he hit the deck from that lifeless fall down, the bounce actually woke him up.:lol::lol:

I’d say Morrison had nasty power. Also hurt Ross Puritty as bad as I ever saw him hurt.
