It is you who needs to get real .The Cooper fight was early in his career but he still got up.Ali took punches from Shavers,Foreman,Liston and Frazier ,all bigger punchers than Mercer and was never knocked out.If you think Mercer could do it you are seriously deluded

Yeah McCall wouldn't have crumbled like Morrison did. He fought Lewis twice and took bombs, literally flush punches from Lennox Lewis without defending himself and yet, never down. He was Mike Tyson's sparring partner for years, never down.

You can think whatever you want to but history isn't on your side.

 

I was talking about Bent and Mercer. Morrison took many consecutive clean hard punches in both fights, no fighter can withstand that.

 

He got up but was dizzy as ****. He was very lucky the punch came at the end of the round, otherwise Cooper would have KOd him.
Even so, Dundee gave him smelling salts (which were illegal back then) and enlarged a tear in his glove to give him more time.

Don't know about Frazier, but the rest I agree hit harder than Mercer.
But you make 2 very big mistakes:
1. Ali was only hit clean with power punches by Shavers, Liston and Foreman did not managed to land the same way.
2. Shavers only managed to land 1 big punch at a time.
Take for example round 2 of their fight, Shavers landed a big right that shook Ali, but he never followed up. Now imagine him landing 5 consecutive punches like that. Ali doesn't survive that in a million years, he wakes up at the hospital.
No HW can survive 5 consecutive clean power punches by an ATG hitter.

No, it is you who is deluded if you think anyone can survive the punches Mercer hit Morrison with.
You might argue that a greater boxer than Morrison would clinch after receiving the fist blow or might run away, and that I can understand, but assuming he's hit with the exact same punches, no boxer remains on his feet.

Watch Mercer KO Morrison again, he reels of 10-12 hard clean punches on Morrison. On the last ones, Morrison wasn't even defending himself. No man can take that, the human body simply cannot handle it.

 

Morrison’s power would give him a punchers chance but I’d probably favor Joshua

 

Serious question here, if people think AJ is Tommy Morrison level then why is Usyk being praised for beating an average heavyweight?

 

I think this is a good matchup. I'm not going to predict a winner, but I think both guys would hit the canvas.

 

Why don't you remind everyone of all the solid chins and decent level heavyweights Mercer and his unsurvivable punches devastated

 

Good matchup. Morrison has a chance with his fast hands and powerful left hook but I think at some point AJ hurts him with a counter and knocks him out shortly after.

 

This may be true, but about 7-9 of them landed because Tommy was sleeping already.
