The first inclination would be to go for an early stoppage by Morrison, but we should factor in Maxim was only stopped once in116 fights ,by big hitting Curtess Sheppard when he was caught cold ,he beat Sheppard two other times.

I would also like to say Morrison would overwhelm him, but Maxim's experience and overall better fighter, I would have to pick Joey in this one.

Morrison is so much bigger than Joey. Maxim was a very good fighter no doubt but him beating Sugar Ray was more because of his size and the heat than anything else. Morrison was extremely heavy handed. Too much size and power for Joey, Morrison 3 rounds or less.

Morrison mid stoppage. If Sheppard could stop him then I think Morrison's explosive punching could

He did it once in three tries. That doesn't give Morrison any favors.

I think Tommy would break him down sooner or later. Joey doesn't really have the pop to intimidate Tommy and Tommy has the quicks to land on Joey.

Are you crazy? Maxim had little power and is just too small. Morrison would TKO him quickly.

We know Tommy had some flaws, but his biggest problem was his prime was the 1990's. Put him in the 1940's or 1950's he a champion. Not saying how long he would hold the title, but given enough changes he's beating Charles, Walcott, Moore, a post prime Louis, and a pre-prime Maricano.

Then why better punchers with better chins couldn't do that quickly?

This. Maxim was extremely durable, so I don’t see Morrison being able to stop him and Morrison had no gas tank, which would be trouble against a smart and experienced fighter like Maxim, who is no stranger against fighting bigger fighters that could punch. I don’t see this fight ending well for Morrison.

Even Marciano was advised to avoid fighting Maxim according to Ted Lowry, who himself told Al Weill that Maxim was all wrong for Marciano.

This is likely, I was just playing devil's advocate.

Maxim never fought a puncher close to Morrison. Don't read too much into his win over Patterson, it was a bad decision.

Maxim had a fine jab but with just a 72" reach, and little power to it or his right hand. He has little to keep a fast handed Morrison off, who could crush guys to the head or body with his hook. Defensively Maxim was average

Don't assume a durable 175 pounds light heavyweight who lost often and respected a puncher on Archie Moore's too much to risk what he needed to to win level can beat a legit heavyweight puncher.

1 ) He doesn't hit hard enough! He had very few KO's. His power level at light heavy is very low.

2 ) He doesn't have a Ray Mercer level chin.

    3 ) He's giving up, oh about 40 pounds.

After watching the films, I view Maxim technical type of fighter who's stiff and has little power. He often lost to the best he fought. His consistency with his left jab allowed him to hang in there but often lose, or beat a better fighter who brought his C game.
