Povetkin reminds me of American HW champion Tommy Morrison.

Both are/were 6' 2" tall with Morrison having a slight 1" reach advantage.

    Who takes it?

Povetkin better chin and outside of the Huck fight consistently better condition. Fun fight but I think Povetkin weathers the early onslaught and starts to nail tommy around the 7th or 8th and gets him out of there.

Morrison obliterates Povetkin. Anybody with speed and an uppercut will clear Povetkin and Tommy had great speed and a great uppercut.

Povetkin does have a good chin, but I think it would see it's heaviest test against Morrison. :smoke

    I agree.
Morrison punched harder than Povetkin and his hand speed was better too. :smoke

He was more athletic, hit a bit harder, but his ring intelligence and chin are far below Povetkins. It's a toss up, but I have to got with Povetkin for that reason. Besides he has more than enough power to give Morrison trouble. Interesting fantasy fight though.

I was thinking the same thing when reading the Lewis vs Povetkin thread. Povetkin's stance and the way he stoops over reminds me of Morrison.

Hard to say how a fight between the 2 plays out. I think Morrison was the more dynamic puncher and a better combination puncher but Povetkin's punches are more compact which may serve him well in a toe to fight with Morrison.

I think Morrison would be more dangerous early as Povetkin tends to start slowly but if he can't finish Povetkin, Povetkin will take over and KO Morrison.

Morrison's power failed to save him in fights
against guys like Mercer... Bent... Lewis...

Morrison threw everything he had at a Russian
named Vaulin... and it did nothing...
Vaulin about knocked Morrison out but finally
Morrison hit Vaulin in the tummy and that did
the trick in round 5... 2 fights later Mercer took
    out Morrison in 5...

I bet Mercer seen that Vaulin fight and how
Morrison's power was over-rated and how he
was getting tagged and sucking wind after
only 3 rounds... Morrison shot his wad against
Mercer after 3 rounds and was gassed... round
4 he's getting tagged and sucking air... Mercer
grabs Morrison and pulled him close and whispers
in his ear "you got nothing left, I'm knocking you out"
it's easy to see this in round 4 when Mercer did that!
seconds into round 5 Morrison was getting KOd like
a rag-doll in one of the most brutal Knock-Outs in history!!

Povetkin would destroy Morrison like Mercer did and
may even do it in 1 round like Bentt did...

Morrison hit Joe Hipp with his best shots early and
they had no effect too like Vaulin...

Go watch... Morrison vs Cannady... Real fight...
Sylvester Stallone is in his corner...

Morrison threw everything he had at Cannady then
did lots of hugging and grabbing cuz he was tired...

Morrison vs Vaulin is on YouTube!!

watch that fight then change your vote
    to Sasha Povetkin...

it's the only Russian that Morrison fought...

he was a third tier Russian Fry-Cook...

and he about Knocked Morrison Out!!

Vaulin was a tricky southpaw and got battered in 5 rounds by Morrison :patsch

Mercer had good inside fighting skills. Povetkin has none and just surrenders every time he gets in close. That is where The Duke tears him a new one.

No chin can keep walking onto Tommy's fire power. Foreman was kept on the outside. Pov would be until he falls over.
    Foreman > Povetkin.

Povetkin> The fossilized Foreman of the 90s. Foreman has a punchers chance nothing more, nothing less.

Foremen in the 90s went life and death with journeymen like Stewart, and guys like like Savarese, Grimsley and Schultz... None of which are anywhere near as good as Povetkin. You can make cases for 3/4 of those guys beating, or nearly beating Foreman.
