Interesting match-up, I think. Tommy's a fast starter and Golota a slow one, but what happens if Morrison doesn't get him out of there quickly? Who takes it?
Golota. Definitely a cut above. Morrison is quickly approaching Cleveland Williams status as the most overrated fighter on this forum.
Golota was far more skilled boxer. His problem was he frustrated easily and quit under the slightest adverse conditions. A total front runner. So there is a chance he would foul out. That aside he wins by stoppage. He basically ruined Bowe, could've won against Grant, Byrd and Ruiz. The guy is literally a razor's hair away in each fight from being a hall of fame candidate. Bowe 2x Grant (first loss) Byrd (prime) Ruiz (Prime) That is impressive amazing that he always fell short usually by self destruction. However those performances exceed Morrison's against an older Foreman and a past Prime Ruddock.
Morrison for simple reason, when he was ever hurt in a fight , it made him fight harder, with more sense of urgency... When Golota was ever hurt, he quit, or did something stupid to get DQ,d. Morrison wins by KO, OR DQ, most likey the latter... Tommy had more heart and Ballz...
^ Tommy did, and I think the DQ is a possibility. It would not surprise me. But Golota was the better fighter.
This is a defense that the Morrison left hook should get through on fairly easy. And he'll be winging it early against this guy. And me, I never liked Andrew against the hitters. I'd like Golata's chances better if he'd come out of the gate and box and circle the guy for 4 rounds. But he won't. He'll go in there and stalk and look to back the other guy up. And if he hit a little harder. He has to string together a million punches to get a guy out of there and some snap would help him keep Morrison honest early.
Even though he loses in the majority of these fantasy threads :huh Golota was good but he wasn't a big KO puncher and wilted under pressure worse than The Duke. Tommy's speed is all wrong for Golota who shined mostly against slower guys.
Tommy cracks Golota with a few left hook bombs in the 1st and floors him. Golota pulls the same sh*t he did v.s Tyson and his trainer fails again at trying to shove the mouthpiece in. Morrison would hit him harder than Brewster did.
Something has got to give, Morrison at least had one night where it came together. I think he'll overcome some knockdowns and outpoint Golota unexpectedly.
The memories of Morrison getting sparked in one by Michael Bentt and having to stretch himself to the absolute limit to squeak by Joe Hipp and an aged Carl Williams make it difficult to favor him. He boxed well against Foreman, but I think Golata was a hair quicker, more aggressive and had the more effective strait jab at that point. I can't see either of these guys lasting to the final bell against one another. It likely ends sometime prior to round 8, and I'm leaning towards Golata to wind up on the better end of it.
Thanks, guys. It's a tough call. I guess I favor Morrison by a hair, as I think he had more heart, was more flexible, and started fast. But that's a 51% vote. I'd have loved to have seen this fight.
Golota had problems with samsong pouah(in his prime), he should had been disqualificated in this fight.
