Tommy Morrison vs. Andrew Golota

He had a very good am career, but not close to best ever. You'd think that with that kind of experience he wouldn't have had the emotional outburst after beating Morrison.

 

Perhaps but Michael Grant wasn't that good and he was able to stay in there with Golota {who wasn't much of a finisher} until Andrew gave up. Tommy does have quickness that Bowe didn't have he could make things uncomfortable for Golota when he touches him.

 

Yep ,go talk to any KNOWLEDGEABLE boxing fan and see if Bentt is brought up with talks of Hw amatuer boxing. To try and argue he wasnt one of the best of all time is dumb. He was a standout in the U.S who competed a long time.

 

No one said he was the BEST ,hes ONE of them. Looks like you are rolling the other way now!


Bentt was a huge underdog who wasn't supossed to win and was nearly out on his feet, i don't think you really get it that Morrison was on his way to fighting Mike Tyson had he won and that came with a huge mega fight but i guess to you that's not a big deal considering Morrison was a top rated fighter?

Great amateur career or not. Bentt was knocked out in the pros by Jerry Jones.

I remember that on Top Rank!! KO1, don't sleep on Jerry "Slice" Jones. He pulled the upset over an aging Carl Williams also on Top Rank!

 

I think he was scheduled to fight Lennox Lewis back then actually but the Bentt loss lost him that bout. He'd get it later and it was a bad mismatch he did ZERO vs Lennox, total domination against a guy who many think has a suspect chin, Tommy couldn't do anything against Lewis!

 

Completely agree.Morrison moves the head and gets in range easily for his hooks.Golota did not do too well against Tyson

 

No it was Tyson he was fighting next and that sent that fight back with morrison losing..A lennox fight wasnt discussed until 96 with Tyson. Lewis was too lengthy and powerful for him,he could have done something possibly but he didnt take any chances and well....did nothing! lol

 

Yea ,its a bad match up for Golota!

 

No pal I'm quite positive it was Lewis actually I lived thru the Era and maybe you did as well and are just misremembering..
