Just looked it up to make sure I was right and yes Morrison and Lewis were scheduled to fight December of '93 but Bentt happened

Nope. Tyson was on a collision course with Morrison and all he had to do was beat Bentt. They were making the Tyson mega fight when he was going to get released or at least that was the fight that was building up even Tyson was still in prison, the loss set a possible Tyson match back. Morrison didnt fight Tyson bc he tested positive for HIV in 95,they were in the deal of making a possible fight.Im not sure now??lol

Listen I'm telling you he had a SIGNED contract to fight Lewis in December, this is a fact. That's why immediately after the fight Jim Lampley can be heard saying and there goes Tommy Morrison's $8 million payday, that was scheduled against Lewis

Morrison vs Bentt was in '93, Tyson was in prison until '95.. like my previous post said that is why Jim Lampley states "and there goes Tommy Morrison's $8 million dollar payday" of course making reference to the fact that he already had a signed contract to fight Lewis that December

I would infer that being "one of the top amature champions of all time" is about the same as "being close to best ever."

Morrison had his dreams of a fight with Lewis shattered by Bentt. Morrison was on the slate for Tyson when he returned, but that fight never happened (HIV).

Yeah Tyson vs Morrison rumblings were there early on in his career. I remember reading a KO upclose interview with Morrison back in 90 or 91 where he spoke of a desire to face Tyson. It was more like him defending him self in the interview from things that the interviewer was telling him that Tyson had said about him, insults.. Tyson was quite verbally abusive when talking about Morrison back then.. Bill Clayton was his manager and of course managed Tyson in the 80's.. Im sure his ultimate dream would've been Tommy taking on and beating Tyson although he'd of been beaten soundly by Tyson in 91. The fight would've been more interesting (competitive) in 96 when it was a real possibility once again.

Golota never won a big fight in his life whereas Morrison did on several occasions. Morrison by mid round stoppage in a war where both fighters are hurt. Morrison TKO 6 Golota.

Tommy was a better fighter, Golota had a better chin, But he did not do so good when hit by someone with Tommy's power, kinda a tossup, Golota was of course "a dummy" So Morrison might pull this one out, say what you want about Morrison, yet he did have a great record. And when he was boxing in rythem (Mercer) had speed and power. If Morrison could fight like he did against Mercer (4 rounds) Foreman, and Rudduck , -He should win.
