I get it but there's always an excuse .. Feel that he was a talented fighter that did not love the sport and was not all in ..

    1) The injury was a fact
    2) Sanders himself didn't want to blame anything on it.
    3) I agree that Sanders was at that stage of his career lukewarm towards boxing.

He probably should have pulled out of the fight but it was an eliminator for Lewis, who he'd wanted to fight for some time. So it's understandable that he went through with it, particularly as he'd seemed to think he could just blow Rahman away (and nearly did).

I don't think he came close to blowing Rachman away at any point .. I think that other than Lewis 1 this was Rachman's best fight .. he took everything Sanders threw and landed his own bombs from the first round and dropped Sanders a few times before the end .. I believe it of you say his knee was injured but he sure does not seem at any point to limp, favor it or wear a support .. I just feel he was a talented fighter for sure not super dedicated, who could have improved if he trained more here in the states and was more dedicated and active .. Sanders was absolutely talented , charismatic, had many options and did not live or breath boxing ..I'm also going to go out own a limb and say while he could hit his power is a bit over rated because of the Wlad bout .. he hit Rachman many times flush and while stung him did not stop him and let's face it, Rachman didn't have an undentable chin ...

Morrison. I’ll go ahead and be in the minority. Corrie, while talented, is being over rated in this thread. Just my opinion.

I'd side with Sanders. Morrison looked very ordinary against even Yuri Vaulin, who was comfortably winning until he got stopped.
Sanders sets traps and punches straight. Morrison would walk into something.

Sanders is talked up by Wk/Vk boot lickers, thats it................because blitzing WK's glass is the ONLY thing he ever accomplished in the Ring against a live opponent................the pure definition of a flash in the pan.

Right around the Nate Tubbs fight, who was a frequent sparring partner for Mike Tyson, Tyson was asked about future opponents and especially that guy from South Africa..............Tyson responded " if he does not even get by my sparring partner what is the point of even discussing this guy ?"

Even the German commentator mentions how wide open as a barn door Sanders is................Sanders had ZERO defense just offense but the moment he stepped up he lost convincingly ......except against timid china chinned Euro hope WK..........punchbag Purrity and Brewster did the same thing...

Did he have potential talent and grit ? Yes but zero desire or motivation, that guy was never a fighter at heart.

    BTW, I am taking Morrison.

I think Tommy pull this out. Probably a real barnburner for the first 4 rounds, they might both go down at some point. But I see Tommy pulling out a win by decsion. Ugly win, but he is underated by many, He was a very good boxer and had a huge left that could devastate someone like Sanders if they got sloppy and overconfident with the jabbing.

I think he pulls this out. Purrity was pretty solid, with an Iron Jaw. A guy like Sanders could box to a victory while Morrison expends himself for the KO.

Sanders does not have the whiskers Purrity had. Tommy gets to him

Compare the Sanders / Purrity and the Morrison / Purrity fights.

There you will get a chance to see how they look against a common opponent.

Sanders is by FAR the better boxer of the two. He boxes rings around Purrity while Tommy goes life and death with him.

That’s what he gets for laying on the ropes to long against mike tysons sparring partner
