I think this fight would be very exciting if it were done when Morrison was in his prime. Morrison had great power and fast hands to go along with decent boxing ability and a weak chin as does David Haye.
I agree... someone was being left looking like a starfish in this one.... i think Haye might have just edged the skill department though
Off course Morrison would have a chance. And when he was fighting carefully, which he should have done more often - like against Foreman - he was a threat to anybody. It was just that his chin sucked. Bad chin and stupid strategy combined = Bent fight.
We really still don't know what Haye is all about at HW. I would have to go with Tommy. Yes, you can bring Bentt and others, but so what. Lennox got starched by Rachman and the Atomic Bull. Well, with Tommy if you don't catch him first, then your in trouble. His chin and stamina were not very good, but he was a very good boxer and one of the best left hooks in the HW division back in the day. I have to see more of Haye at HW. I say this that Haye has balls to jump from Barrett to Vlad, but if he gets starched quickly then we still don't know anything about him at HW.
That's cheating.... you can't put an arse like that in your avatar and expect people to be able to debate... i've completely forgot what the thread was about :good
It is like what Tonsetzer said. If he fought carefully. Going into the Mercer fight, he thought he was invincible and I really thought he was going to win. Man, I remember that fight like it was yesterday and all the black dudes that were over my house who all picked Mercer. They really let me have it when Tommy got KO'ed. Tommy by no means is slow, but you have a point with Hayes speed against him. As you know, a punch you don't see changes everything whether you fast or not. Especially in the HW division. I think this thread will be more interesting in a year on so to see if Haye becomes the fighter or champ he claims he will be. I hope he does good things. I like the brash talk, speed, and power.
what stupid strategy? if you are fighting a guy who's career is barely in double figures, who had got sparked in the first round with a left hand and a noted broken right hand less than 3 months ago...you are damn well trying to get him out of there. it makes complete sense. Haye is smaller in stature but he is a good size heavy and has a great countering brain, the cross and the left hook are there and he can mix it up very well. he can box much more effectively than Morrison. as good as tommy was he great at hitting non moving objects, mercer was taking a stupid amount of punishment before mercer turned him in a corner. and mercer was never a great mover...great jab but not a great cutie every backstepper gave tommy problems and with hayes agility i think tommy would miss air and land on a right cross. to which tommy would get dropped get up and be repeativly hit and swarmed until it was over.
tough fight to pick. Neither guys chin would hold up to the other ones. I see Haye stopping Morrison in round 3 or 4.
