Tua was to easy to hit,if Morrison could take flush foreman shots and Ruddock..he defeats a less technical fighter and less bigger body Tua. unless morrison punches himself out ( a possibility) i see him stopping Tua in 6. I would give Morrison a good 70% chance to win this. Very underated speed and boxing ability.
He couldn't take the flush shots of Mercer or Bentt or Lewis.. and barely those of Hipp or old ass Carl Williams.
He wasnt prepared for Mercer, had he paced himself another story..mercer also a better boxer than tua.Lewis was 6'5 84 inch reach ...really has no bearing on how morrison would approach the 5'10 Tua. tua lost to chris Byrd if you want to add the who lost to who? Really its dumb if we are comparing the actual guys, and Morrison beating foreman /Ruddock two power punchers shows he could deal witha shorter guy easier to hit. Carl williams was in great shape actually, and anyone can use the AGE point in these matches...really again its dumb bc you use wwhen a fighter is at his best. i wouldnt rule out Tua..but i wouldnt bet on him.
Foreman out punched Morrison the first 3 rounds, this shopws morrison could indeed prepare for heavy handed shots, pand a left hook limited fighter( no one knew left hooks better than morrison) Tua was not the 260 pound 6'3 foreman, hes not pressing Morrison . Had Morrison not ran and actually went for a k.o without playing it safe he would have a great chance to K.O Foreman ....Stewart did after rnd 3,who landed shot and then ran away himself....back to tua...he was 5'10 easy to hit..a well prepared Morrison would be the favorite here,i cant see how not.
A key factor on these who wins polls is when and Tua's weight. At Tua's best, and Morrison's best, I bet on Tua. On an average night, maybe Morrison on points.
Morrison of the Foreman fight easily beats Tua. Stick and move all fight without ever having to deal with one of the greatest jabs of all time. I could see the Duke uppercut causing Tua serious issues as well. Unfortunately for Morrison he was only 100% and fully prepared for one night of his career.
Obviously the guy with the better chin - Tua - wins. Morrison could try to run around and then flurry, like against Foreman, but Tua had faster hand speed than Foreman, so I am not confident that would work. Tua by early rounds ko.
Tua KOs Morrison in the mid to late rounds. I think it would play out similar to the Mercer fight with Morrison outboxing him for the first few rounds then getting fatigued and taken out.
OK, let's look at it this way. Morrison made the Ring's Annual heavy ratings twice, no better than number 8. Tua made those same rating 8 different years.. as high as number 4. What do you know that writers and fightfans like myself did not see 20 years ago? What has changed about their respective careers? Tua KO'd Moorer, Ruiz, Rahman and Maskaev... 4 champs past or future. There was really no shame in losing to Byrd. That would have been a 5th champ. And it's not like he was Mike Bentt. Morrison squeaked by Foreman by literally turning his back and running away from George, a la Keystone Cops. It was a strategy that would only work against Tua were Tua also 42 years old and possessed of the mobility of a drydocked battleship. Please to note it was not a strategy that Morrison could pull off to any degree of success with any other fighter in his entire career. And Ruddock, please. He was known more for his losses to Tyson and Lewis than his most notable victory which occurred 5 years previous. And he would never have a notable victory again. And Morrison had to get bailed out of that fight by a kind ref. The problem is that Tua faced as big, and bigger punchers, than Morrison and didn't fold. Tommy liked his victims to be pre-softened, with perforated lines where the folds were. Guys like Hipp, thought to be such material, didn't always cooperate and caused him a world of trouble. Tua had an IRON chin. And Tommy didn't have the range control of a Lewis to keep Tua at bay. This one ends and ends quickly. Golden boy, pec-implants and all, is canvas-bound at the end.
Morrison outboxes him a few rounds but ultimately does something stupid and gets plastered at some point.
