Both vicious punchers with shaky chins. So what do you guys think? My guess is whoever gets off first, but it definately wont go past six.
Shavers murders Tommy for me. Shaky chin or iron jaw Shaver's is knocking out any fringe contender from the 80's, 90's and 00's. PS I don't count Morrison's WBO title from the early 90's as a legitimate world title as the WBO belt was not taken seriously at the time.
Shavers by slaughter. Although, it could go to the past 6 if both fighters are overcautious like the rudduck-Morrison fight With shavers it still took a lot of punches to put him down. Tommy sometimes went down with a single shot. IMO he was way easier to KO. Shavers also faced better fighters
Morrison absolutely.... Shavers was just a hard puncher, tommy could box and he could punch,he was by far more skilled, much better stamina, shavers had worse chin. The only stupid argument of the people is "ray mercer destroyed morrison" morrison was cold still. Amd mercer had iron chin. Morrison took blows from ruddock, lennox lewis, old foreman.... Morrison would destroy shavers- morrison was by far more balanced
Morrison if he's focussed correctly. If he fights in his hometown and goes drinking and whoring a la Bentt, then Shavers eats him alive. However, if both come into the ring in similar condition, Morrison has a little more dimension to his game. And as Ron Lipton so wonderfully put it, "He hits harder than a winter on welfare."
Hmmmm... Morrison is also a wicked puncher and throws better and quicker combos' than Shavers did.... Shavers would need to catch Morrison early while he's still cold, or I see Morrsion maybe blasting Shavers out within 5 rds..... A toss-up..... MR.BILL
This.^ He took Lyle into round six, and Leroy Caldwell compared Ron's punching power as about identical to Foreman's. Also, Earnie was capable of being dangerous when hurt. Ellis had him going, then the referee's break allowed him the opportunity to plant that right uppercut. Years later, he did get up and rally to knock out the deadly Jeff Sims. As legendary as the Shavers right was, it was his left hook which dropped Lyle and Young, and initially stunned Norton. Earnie was extremely dangerous with both hands. Concerning the possibility of over caution on the part of Shavers, he was rarely guilty of this except with Ali, a match where many thought he should have been awarded the decision. It was rare for him not to get off first, and he even did this in the loss to Quarry.
True, wouldnt feel confident about betting anything substantial on either guy. Both are so inconsistent.
see.. this is the same thing as rudduck knocking down and almost KOing Morrison.. Morrison may have been beating up mercer all might but he wasn't pacing himself and he got knocked out.. simple as that. Lewis and Bentt also knocked out Morrison BADLY. Williams and smith also dropped Morrison along with Ross purity. it's known that he doesn't have a chin. against shavers he'll need it. Shavers did get beat a lot but it still took a sustained flurry of punches to really put him down.. I believe shavers gets the right had home sometime, like mercer and Bentt did.
