It's a lot easier to come back after being dropped if you are dropped by every Tom, Dick and Harry who comes along.
Regarding Morrison early although under fire Bruno went with Tyson in the first 4 or 5 rounds in the first Tyson fight. Bruno's jab may be the deciding factor here and don't forget that big right hand and even if Tommy got through the first 5 or 6 rounds what sort of shape would he be in? I suspect a worse shape than Smith, Witherspoon and Lewis. Morrison is always dangerous but I see him being busted up and stopped after 6 or 7 rounds.
I wonder if the difference of opinion here lies with who you had to watch more of while they developed. Seeing Morrison flail and wobble and drop so many times on Yank TV may be distorting my opinion. Perhaps if I had watched Bruno come up thru the ranks I might see this as more even.
So what? Bruno lost 5 fights out of 45 all by ko.Morrison lost 4 of 52 3 by ko.Its meaningless statistics,we are talking head to head and I happen to think Morrison ko's Bruno rather early. I saw at least 20 of Bruno's fights from ringside and am aware of his strengths and weaknesses.
Prime for Prime Morrison should win this Both have good power. Both have mediocre defense. Both have weak chins. Morrison has greater hand speed. He should be able to beat Bruno to the punch. Morrison by tko
Morrison did have a tough time with some fighters who didn't beat him. Two, Hipp and Vaulin, were southpaws at a time when there weren't many. Purrity was a big, strong fighter who was also extremely durable, and Carl Williams had one of the best jabs ever. Losing to Lewis, and Mercer was no disgrace, and Bentt, though he didn't fight a lot, was a 225 pounder with a good amateur career. Bruno had a tough time with Jumbo Cummings, who was a strong, tough fighter. I had heard some say that Jumbo didn't punch that hard. Later I talked to a guy who had fought Jumbo. He said that if anybody thought Jumbo couldn't punch they must also think that Pinklon Thomas and Witherspoon couldn't punch, he said they were all about equal. All of the people who did beat Bruno were big punchers, losing to Tyson, Lewis, Witherspoon and Bonecrusher is nothing to be ashamed of. Until I read all of the posts here I would have picked Bruno, but now I'm not as sure. It'd be a good fight (or maybe a fun, short one?).
I'll go with Morrison, he's faster and more fluid, should be able to beat stiff robotic Bruno to the punch
Morrisons fight to lose. Tommy was faster, hit harder and could go the distance in his prime. He will catch Bruno and I don't think Bruno will survive. Interesting fight if Tommy gasses right after Bruno gets hurt. I think Morrison has the edge there as well as he showed he would not quit even if gassed.
Morrison didn't have the British Cartel behind him ie promoter, matchmaker, trainer. Bruno was extremely carefully matched to the point of timidity! No way on Gods Earth would he have been put in with Mercer for example!
