I brought up Cummings to show that was the only time Bruno came back from adversity ,and then he was saved by the bell. Purrity,Hipp,Vaulin,Williams were mentioned because?

Mercer couldn't even walk around a geriatric Holmes.

Morrison is among the most overrated fighters on this forum without a doubt. There is a reason he made the Ring's Annual Top 10 heavies only once, and then at number 8. He was beyond a fringe contender and more a sideshow. Pre Slavic Invasion, the boxing world was frothing in desperation for a marketable white heavy. Morrison was about as good as they could find stateside... and that wasn't all that good.

Well when you've got to punchers with questionable chins and stamina, go with the faster starter and faster handed to the two. That would be Morrison, and I think he's the better puncher of the two who would land the first bomb.

    This could go either way.

They put him in with guys tougher than Mercer only if it was a title shot.

Bonecrusher was green but Bruno's manager's underestimated him.

Once he exposed Bruno's chin and stamina problems, he was very carefully matched. He would only step up to legitimate top 10 competition when they had secured a title shot.

Coetzee may have still been rated in the top 10, but they caught him on the way down.

Then he got the shot against an out of shape Witherspoon, who was having problems with Don King, but Bruno couldn't capitalize and was blasted out.

Then he rebuilt against a shot Tillis and a come backing Bugner, and presto, a title shot against Tyson.

Then after Tyson stopped him, he beat a declining Carl Williams. Presto another Title shot.

    Lewis stops him.

After beating a few non-entities, gets a shot at Oliver McCall.

Finally, he wins a belt against a guy who really should have never held a World Belt, but capitalized on Lewis's china chin.

Then Tyson Kos him a second time.

Bruno was certainly very well connected, to get so many chances.

Morrison was no world beater, but at least he was put in a very tough cross roads fight after only 2 years as a pro.

And the win over Foreman was very impressive. He showed he could alter his style and stick to a game plan to overcome his own deficiencies.

I think if he had stayed disciplined he could have done a lot better after the Foreman win.

Like others, I am picking Morrison because of his hand
speed advantage and the he could hurt Bruno early in the fight. As was shown throughout his career, once Bruno is hurt, he is a tko loser shortly thereafter.

You think Bruno would have got the shot against Holmes if he had beaten Smith?

Don't see what better skills Bruno had apart from the jab. Good jab , but Tommy had a great left hook and you're better off with a great left hook than a solid jab. Jabbers were made for left hook counter punchers.

Morrison boxed smooth and fluidly , Bruno was stiff and creaky. He went life n death winning the title from MaCall. Morrison beat Foreman with less hastle. I think Foreman was better than MaCall.
Left hooker Tyson creamed Bruno twice , id pick Morrison to do the same. Not as easily as Tyson of course , but he'd catch Bruno eventually .

the Bentt fight was a big disappointment, it really showed Morrison had no chance at top level. not that Bruno was at the very top but he was more durable, he would catch and hurt Morrison before getting caught himself later in the fight where he gets tired. Bruno can be dangerous early in a fight if your chin isnt very stable, he a damn site better that Micheal Bentt as well.

Excellent post which tells the truth.
Anyone disputing it should read Mickey Duff's autobiography!
