Tommy Morrison vs. Joe Louis

Joe will get caught early, many agree with that.

The only thing I think different is that there is a better than 50% chance he gets KO ed. At least the first fight, of course if Joe survives the surprise he will Ko Tommy in 4, That is, In the first and even a second fight.

Most of us see Tommy landing the hook early.
I guess most think Joe survives it, I am on the fence on that. I still give Tommy the edge in the first fight by ending it early. He was a tremendous offensive force for around 4 rounds.

 

Joe stops Morrison earlier and even more lopsidedly than Mercer.

I never thought much of TM. Though I admire his very smart win over George Foreman, it ended up seeming moot in the grand scheme of his career.

Morrison was like the late 80s, early 90s Jerry Quarry (in fact the latter was probably the greater fighter imo; even the abovementioned, run run run Foreman win wasn't as shatteringly impressive as Quarry's first round KO of a young Shavers).

 

So he had the talent to be legit , he just didn't live the life or had the discipline? Wouldn't that contradict your previous statement that he was a fraud , since there was nothing fraudulent about his left hook or combination punching.
Some guys squandered or didn't live up to their full potential . i.e Corrie Sanders. The guy you love cos he stripped the underpants clean off your beloved Wladdo. LOL!!

 

The mercer fight was very one sided for the first few rounds. In Tommy's favour. He just overlooked Mercer's jaw and was punished for it

 

Frazier was too merciless for Mercer. Ray was a really good fighter, but he was different as a puncher from Foreman. TKO in 5.

 

easy win for tom joe was light and outdated the first couple punches ends it

Tommy Morrison is not beating Joe Louis so let's put that aside .. I'm a bit surprised about the total discredit he is getting by some .. he juiced but so did most of the fighters of the era .. his chin was suspect and he clearly is reported to be a partier .. that said , he had some skill , real power and a big heart .. he was a power punching , colorful contender ...

And then you woke up and realized it was just a dream.

 

Tommy wins by catching Louis with a bomb left hook, and Louis goes to dreamland. It's quite possible it happens in the first round.

 

If Louis tastes Tommy's left hook, he gets KOd
