Is anyone torn picking a winner here? Or is it clear cut, and Kenny s the all round better fighter? Or does Norton's chin not survive Morrison s best hooks? 10 round s non title fight. 3kd rule in effect.
If it's the Tommy of the Mercer fight who started extremly fast then yeah, i pick the Duke to land his left hook on Ken's middleweight chin. If Norton doesn't get killed in the first 5 rounds though.... Tommy by early KO.
Norton did stop Jerry Quarry. And Quarry was a much better fighter than Morrison. I agree that Morrison could get lucky and catch Norton with one of those big left hooks. But, I wouldn't bet on it. I think Norton would be really up for a fight with Morrison and win this one.
I don't think this fight goes very long one way or the other, Norton has by far the better jab , and Kenny has a better set of whiskers than Morrison ,,you think Tommy would have taken all those shots Holmes landed on Kenny?. I could see Norton doing a job on Tommy like he did to Duane Bobick. Who did Tommy ever beat in their prime as good as Norton? Tommy has a chance,,1 in 3 maybe
Norton has the pedigree, and overall he's beaten better guys (Ali). Morrison has the big thunder early which Norton famously wasn't a fan of. I lean towards Norton with the caveat that if Tommy blitzes him absolutely nobody would be surprised.
Interesting post----my question---did Norton ever beat a pure slugger in his career? That is why I favor Morrison. To quote in a first few rounds " blitz" After 4-5 rounds it is all Norton.
Could go either way. Morrison had both the power and fast starting ability to put Ken away but Norton could also pull a Bobick on him
I think Morrison had the power to stop Ken, but I put the latter at a Mercer-level of power. If Ken gets the right shot off, Morrison is done. Still, he'd have to weather quite the storm, Morrison was no joke with that left hook... I wouldn't bet on either.
If Ken lands the that powerful, looping right over the left hook...it's over. Morrison couldn't take many flush shots from Norton. That said, that might go both ways...
