I don't understand where people get the view that Morrison was ever even world class. What makes him better than Savarese? Or Barrett? He seems hyped far beyond his resume

Jose Luis Garcia was not world class either.

    Not even close.

Yet despite Garcia not being anything close to world class , He still was able to drop Norton in the 1st round , 5th and 8th round.

Norton was badly knocked out by this Middleweight who had to bulk up to 188 pounds in order to fight him.

Norton is going to sleep against Morrison early.

Virtually every observer thought Schultz handily beat Foreman.

Morrison also never knocked out anyone who was ranked. His power is totally unproven against world class opposition. Where is this reputation as a puncher coming from giving his terrible level of opposition?

Multiple guys kayoed by Morrison were kayoed more quickly by guys nobody regards as big hitters.

Cooney didn't frequently underperform vis a vis non punchers like Morrison though.

Holyfield hurt Mercer worse than Morrison and isn't regarded as a huge hitter
Lewis wasn't seemingly affected by Morrisons punches but Bruno and Holyfield hurt him as did McCall and Rahman
Nicholson stopped Terry Anderson quicker than Morrison
Berbick stopped Marsellos Brown quicker than Morrison

I could go on but you get the picture.

There's little evidence to support him being this massive hitter. In fact the evidence points to a guy with a padded record who feasted on terrible opponents and still underperformed

An 87 percent rate against horrible opposition.

Duane Bobick has a similar kayo percentage against a similar level of opposition. So does Cobb. Why are they not huge punchers in your book given they blew away guys of that level easily?

Im having trouble seeing how Bobick and Cobb wouldn't qualify as a huge puncher by the standards you want to use for Morrison.

I dunno. Morrison really had a glass chin, he had decent recovery but he got dropped a lot more and doesn't have Nortons wins. Tommy starting off aggressive could win him the fight but I don't have any confidence.

Cobb has 14 first round knockouts, and 20 plus in the first 2 rounds. He didn't have any trouble blowing out poor opposition early just like Morrison. Morrison's power immediately became accumulative or a total non factor when he fought better opponents.

Either he couldn't hurt his opponents (Lewis, Mercer) or he had to pound away round after round (faded Williams, faded Ruddock)

Shavers kayoed multiple ranked opponents to Morrisons zero so not a good comparison. He also stopped multiple opponents quicker than anyone else.

Coetzee was ranked by ring magazine when Bruno knocked him out

By pointing out the objective fact that Cobb has nearly as many first round kayoes as Morrison out of a similar number of total fights?

Shavers has far more in the way of punching credentials than Morrison.

You seem to be the one lacking objectivity in this discussion. Bobick has the same knockout percentage as Morrison and you brought up knockout percentage as a plus for Morrison

The problem here is Tommy's chin so really bad and I know Norton doesn't have the greatest chin either but Tommy's is definitely worse.

    This.

If you check out Ring's Annual ratings of heavyweights, Tommy gets in twice during his entire career, both times at number 9. That about sums it up.

Norton is a level above and Tommy's chin is even worse.

Cobb's power worked great against low level opposition just like Morrison. I think you are massively overrating Morrisons power based on his level of opposition. Lots of guys Cobb included would blow away the guys Morrison beat. Morrison may have hit harder but you are underrating Cobb.

Bobick has exactly the same knockout percentage as Morrison (42 kayos in 52 fights) and the best guys he kayoed are similar to the best guys Morrison kayoed. How do you figure they are not in the same ballpark power wise? You brought up Morrison 87 % kayo rate. Bobick seems like the closest thing to Morrison that Norton faced. A white hope with a fantastic kayo percentage and questionable resume.

I think you left out the important fact that George stopped Michael Moorer for the title in his next fight after losing to Morrison.

You are still sore Tommy drank your entire case of Macallan 18 without ever paying you back ?

As a reference , Tommy beat the "Most powerful Heavy that has ever lived" according to Forum gospel, George Foreman, who in his very next fight cold cocced Moorer.............

Tommy also never spit his mouthpiece and quit vs a non ranked morbid obese Taco stand owner who never won a meaning ful fight before or after....

Tommy toughend it out vs Purrity vs your hero WK quit and was pulled out in the 11th hour..............

BTW, Morrison would take 100 % of Arn chair Posters including yours head clean off even with head gear.
