Dont panic its not just the KO which we all know was brutal, but the first part of the fight, where ray took a fearful beating, holy **** some of the combos and power shots tommy threw and hit him with would have put most men out cold. He obviously tired and shot his bolt and ray with his crazy chin and heart seized his chance Check out the shots tommy lands in round 1 flush on ray at 1.21, how did he take them ?, what a fight by the way some of the 90s HW fights were awesome Great quote from ray haha "Morrison hit me so hard to the body with those hooks that I was actually farting in the ring. (Laughs) You have to act like...you can't let the guy see that you're hurt, but I'm pretty sure he heard and smelled a couple of things. (Laughs) But he hit me harder than I was ever hit in boxing." I for one bar at the time, have never seen the full fight since, so this was pretty good to watch, i was a huge tommy fan at the time, and have always liked ray [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdE1d3mxYmM[/ame] By the way you guys all seen the new tommy video on the general forum from the console game ?, i fear that tommy may be dying, he looks very ill
Morrison looked brilliant in this fight. His combinations were so clean,so precise, and so fluid - he really looked a great fighter.Mind you,Tommy always was great offensively - besides Holyfield,Bowe and Tyson, probably the best heavyweight of the last thirty years in that area. Not too good defensively, and his chin wasn't the best, but he was awesome to watch at his best. I saw that clip of him,and yes,he looks very ill.Overall, quite a sad story how his life unraveled over the last twenty years.I wish him nothing but the best.
I have seen the full fight many times, it's a classic. Morrison was getting much the better of Mercer early on, his power was too much, beautiful fighting... until Mercer landed that combo.... it was all downhill from there, which resulted in that epic stoppage.
This video...rather that fight, the ending of it..must be more of a nightmare to Tommy Morrison than even the spectre of AIDS.
