They were both born the same year, Morrison a more proven fighter, had better opponents and held the WBO heavyweight title in 1993. while Mavrovic ruled in European boxing and successfully defended his European title seven times, his first defeat was against Lennox Lewis and that was the last fight of his career. Who would win this fight?
The Mohawk guy had a chin . thats it , little power, poor defense and stiff as a board............Morrison makes it more difficult as it should be but still wins a clear UD.
He may have defending the Euro title several times, but against low-level opposition. When Clifton Mitchell and Julius Francis are up there with the best names on your record then you're hardly proven. Morrison could lose to anybody decent, so it would probably be competitive. I don't rate Morrison highly although I did like him in the mix.
Good bout. Tommy had the power in this one and beat better fighters, Zeljko had a pretty good amateur background and showed a solid chin vs Lewis, not sure about his power at world level though he dominated at EBU level. I used to think that Mavrovic vs Herbie Hide would have been a good WBO HW title bout back in the late 90's. Zeljko would have a good chance in that one. I like Tommy by close decision in this after a likely distance battle with maybe a KD or two.
Just because Lewis didn't knock Zeljko out doesn't mean Morrison wouldn't. Morrison by mid round stoppage.
