Tommy Morrison was a worthy contender and a top 10 HW in a division filled to the brim with talent - that's pretty respectable if you ask me.

But... he got his ass beat on the street by a shot Sylvester Stallone

I concur wholeheartedly. To be fair though, his manager had him high as a kite that night.

I saw a documentary on Youtube about him making a comeback, it seems to me he has lost his mind, either that or he has always been a bit of a jerk......

I seem to remember him always being a bit of a jerk with a lot of half-assed opinions and whatnot.

It's funny if you watch his fight with Joe Hipp, then immediately afterward, watch Tommy saying he didn't think Marciano could deal with a big modern heavyweight like himself on ESPN. As though he were a super heavyweight or anything to begin with.

    :-(

You know there is an interview with him after he contracted HIV, he talks about making people more aware of the disease, educating others etc, he seemed sincere to, however here he is, still fighting, putting peoples lives in jeopardy, claiming he does not have the disease.

Actually i always remember Tommy coming off like a nice guy,so much that even though i thought he was overrated i felt bad for him when hed get knocked out. :patsch Man if i knew he was like this i would have had a celebration every time he got ktfod.

He comes off like a mean angry drunk he doesnt he even sound like a regular sober pissed off guy. I know hes had problems with booze before,it wouldnt surprise me if he was drunk right here, especially considering the opponent maybe he figured he could beat him up drunk.

Early Morrison had a better chin than given credit for. Though I think he broke his jaw or something crazy like that in the Joe Hipp fight (if I'm way off on that one I'm sorry, just remember hearing it I thought). But he was knocked down 3 times in the infamous Michael Bentt fight. If Morrison hadnt tested HIV positive I think he would have fought for quite a few more years. I don't think he would have been as active as he was previously after the Lewis fight (if you look at Morrisons record he fought alot of low-level competition even after becoming an established "star", way more than is typical). Morrison claims he was going to get to right Mike Tyson post prison. I believe he claims (and Im pretty sure King was going to promote it) after his upcoming fight that was cancelled due to the HIV status (dont remember against whom) if he would have won that he would have fought Tyson summer 1996. If we take that at face value that's basically the version of Tyson that beat Bruce Seldon. I think because of Tyson's early fight power and Morrison's willingness to stand and fight that Tyson probably KO or TKO's Morrison in the 4th-5th round. That would have basically been the end of Morrison as a near top tier heavyweight. He may have pulled another upset or two along the way because he did have a cannon for a left hook (he sent a 250+ pound Razor Ruddock literally airbone with it) and beaten some know names but for the most part been KO-ed anytime he stepped up in competition.

ditto on this one. I was say age 13-19 during Morrison's run. And I always felt bad for the dude too. He just came off as a nice guy who tried so damn hard (unlike Chris Arreola "The Duke" came in shape lol) but just wasn't good enough. And even around the fans when he fought in West Virginia he came off the same way. But watch him now and he just comes off as flat out psycho. Sadly i checked boxrec and he has an upcoming fight against a TBA opponent scheduled in Auburn, Washington.

Hed of been in the mix to get smashed up by a Klithko like anybody else had he been doing much in more recent years. Though unlike most of the others he looked to keep in shape and he really gave it a go.

Nah, he was horribly outclassed in that fight. I watched it again on youtube the other day, and even one of the commentators said Lewis has just kept his right hand on his chin, and Morrison couldn't do anything else.

He got steamrolled that day. He tried bloody hard, and gave his best, but it was pretty one sided IMO.

Got to say Lewis looked very good in that fight, it was about when it all started to come together for him with Steward, so Morrison couldn't have caught him at a worse time. Would have had much more chance with the right hand happy sloppy banger that fought McCall, bruno etc.

Again, Morrison Vs. Ruddock was a dramatic war! Awesome!
