    Yes. Jabbed him, manhandled him, and made him miss a lot, and blocked even more.

    The Evening World scored it a shutout.

    The San Fransisco Chronicle had him winning all eight of the final rounds as he stepped up the aggression.

    Boston Chronicle had it 9-3-2


    That's about the best card i've seen for Gans. He won the first three rounds and then none thereafter for that paper.

    It was a drubbing.

    The fight was agreed at 138, Langford came in over.

    And just to re-state, in my delight at getting to talk about this fight, Gans had a genuine stomach problem going in. It was attested to by the doctor.

    The strength of Langford is pretty ridiculous and you'd always have him imposing himself on Gans in a fantasy fight if it never actually happened. But the novice factor is shocking, and a great also.

    Interesting that we are talking about Langford, Ryan didn't. He'd already beaten Blackburn, Jeanette and had just beaten Barry and Jackson...clearly Ryan doesn't rate him as a HW, perhaps he felt Jackson had somehow eliminated him

    Langford just can't get a break, even now.

    Like i say, i'm not surprised on his comments on Gans, but it is interesting how he seems to ignore Langford, very actually. Do you have him p4p number one still?

    Not much really.

    If the curent heavyweight champ is a middleweight, then you are always going to feel a bit disalusioned with the state of the division, without disrespect to the fighter.

    Burns was a great pound for pound fighter but he was always going to look like a weak heavyweight cahmpion compared to Jeffries.

    Burns was avaricious.

    Once he had made all the money he could beating white fringe contenders, he decided to cash out against a black dynamite fighter. If he won the fight it was merely a bonus.

    If McVea's manager had made the right offer before Johnsons, then we would be talking about the title reign of Sam McVea, and how it impacted on the sport.

    And that was the point that I was trying to make. Burns made no attempt to hide the fact that he was as much a businessman as he was a fighter and that didn't go over particularly well, especially given his barnstorming and the fact that he was succeeding Jefferies. Ryan may not have held a personal grudge against him, but I think that might be one reason why he labeled Burns' reign as a joke.

    Interesting that Ryan doesn't mention Driscoll, who was already developing a scary rep over in the UK by this time.

    His injury was questionable, I recall. As for how many fights he had and how many KOs, unfortunately, nobody has taken the time to research him properly. I might do one day, perhaps.
