Both in their prime, who do you take?

Ryan. He could box, and was very difficult to stop, mitigating Ketchel's swinging puncher's chance.

Great match-up. At first I was going with Ryan but after some thought I am taking Ketchel. More proven at middleweight. He was able to hunt down and stop just about every opponent he had, boxers and punchers alike. With little to no footage, we have to go by results.

Ryan is not talked about enough.

I don't pick any MW pre-Greb to beat Ketchel.

    That is a huge call.

Not even Sam Langford, Bob Fitzsimmons or Tommy Burns? Tommy Ryan is not too far off this class. Some may have said he was in the middle or ahead of it!

Bill Papke, of course, did actually beat him pre greb, didnt he. I would have though that Ryan was a fair bit ahead of Papke in class.

Of course, stylistically, i imagine that Ketchell would be a massive challenge for Ryan. To me, Ketchell's record isnt as good, but he does seem to have been rated a lot higher by most who saw him than what his record (or even film) suggests he should be. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets the knockout, but i dont think it is the most likely scenario.

You don't find Ketchel's record better at middleweight than Ryan's?
