He threw about fifty percent more, landed nearly twice as many punches, won 8 out of 12 rounds plus a point deduction from his opponent for head butting. One of the biggest robberies in history.
My scorecard. Second Viewing. R1. 10-8 Rungvisai. Gonzalez goes down on a body shot. R2. 10-9 Gonzalez Close. Rungvisai in control the first two minutes. Gonzalez blocking and backing up. Gonzalez takes control in the last minute, speeds up, and lands a lot of punches. R3. 10-9 Gonzalez. Headbutt at 1:50. Gonzalez cut over eye. Gonzalez takes over after a brief exchange lands almost at will, blocking almost everything on gloves and arms. R4. 10-9 Gonzalez. First minute goes to Gonzalez landing more. Second minute Rungvisai bulls close and even though he doesn't land much he smothers Gonzalez' output. Last 46 seconds Gonzalez ****s Rungvisai up. Rungvisai looks a little stunned at the bell. R5. 10-9 Gonzalez. First minute goes to Gonzalez. Gonzalez lands a great combination about a minute and a half in. Rungvisai lands a good body shot at the end of the second minute. Gonzalez beat Rungvisai from one end of the ring to the other in the last minute. Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman remark on how Gonzalez almost can't miss. R6. 10-8 Gonzalez comes out firing getting the better of things. Head clash thirty seconds in. Rungvisai tries to push Gonzalez back with his legs late in the second minute, fails as Gonzalez pushes him back with punches. Clash of heads in the last ten seconds. Ref takes a point from Rungvisai. Gonzalez dominates the whole round pushing Rungvisai around. Rungvisai backing up almost the whole time getting hit a lot. How does he not go down getting hit that much? Gonzalez isn't featherfisted. R7. 10-9 Rungvisai First minute was probably Gonzalez' but he's slowing down. Second minute was Rungvisai. He's starting to land, and grunt when he punches. Bout even in the last minute. Close round to Rungvisai. R8. 10-9 Gonzalez. First minute Gonzalez hits Rungvisai in the face and Rungvisai counters by hitting Gonzalez on the shoulder, the elbow, or the air as Gonzalez ducks under it. Does Rungvisai ever duck? Second minute Rungvisai bulls forward pushing Gonzalez back, but still being outlanded quite a bit. Gonzalez lands a good punch with 35 seconds left but nothing else of note in the last minute from either fighter. R9. 10-9 Gonzalez. Before round the doctors check the cuts. First minute, slight edge to Rungvisai. Good body shot. Blood streaming from Gonzalez' eye, looks nasty. Second minute Gonzalez moving forward, slight edge, landing slightly more. Still not much between them. Gonzalez, face a bloody mask, bleeding on Rungvisai's chest, backs Rungvisai up and outlands him in the last minute. Roy commends Gonzalez' pressure tactics. Lederman scores round for Rungvisai. I guess it was fairly close. This might be a swing round on people's cards. R10 10-9 Rungvisai. First two minutes Gonzalez looks tired and sloppy. He's backing Rungvisai up but not really doing much damage. Looked like Rungvisai landed better in the last minute. R11 10-9 Rungvisai. First minute is even. Gonzalez going forward but not doing more damage. Second minute is Rungvisai's for a good combo at 1:20. Gonzalez continues forward but slow, tired, and sloppy. Even last minute. Rungvisai looking fresher, landing heavier shots. R12 10-9 Gonzalez. First minute is even. Rungvisai hugging and holding. Second minute Gonzalez landing bombs. Rungvisai turns to run. Audience boos. Third minute Gonzalez chasing Rungvisai trying to leave it all in the ring, landing a little while Rungvisai runs and hugs. 8-4 Gonzalez
There are similarities between chocolatito-rungvisai and pac-horn. Both fights were given to the bigger, uncut, rough house fighters. I think the essence of judging has been forgotten. It should be judged by who's landing more cleaner punches and they are PAC and chocolatito.
I think there were definite similarities. I had Pac/Horn 9-3 for Pac. Could have been 8-4 since I can see giving Horn round 2. Pacquiao vs Horn R1 10-9 Horn Horn somewhat awkward, Manny off not adapted yet, Horn aggressive knocks mouthpiece out. R2 10-9 Pacquiao Close. Horn being aggressive young and strong. Not a lot landing. Lot of clinching. Pacquiao landed a good left hand so I'll give it to him. Could use more infighting. Pacquiao slightly better at timing this round. Trying to counter punch. R3 10-9 Pacquiao landing more cripser shots. Horn still trying but being more cautious easing up his pressure. R4 10-9 Pacquiao figured him out and is outlanding him whenever Horn moves in. Conditioning may play a factor late in the fight, also Horn is noticeably bigger. R5 10-9 Pacquiao teeing off like he did against Alghieri, throwing less landing more doubling connects. R6 10-9 Pacquiao Good uppercut and smothering of Pacquiao on the ropes by Horn. Accidental clash of heads and bleeding from Manny down his chest from his scalp. Wow, he's bleeding a lot. Pacquiao lulled into a false sense of security and Horn lands two good quick shots. Mostly Pac playing the matador though. R7 10-9 Pacquiao Another headbutt, another cut. They are so awkward that this is getting messy. Pacquiao landing way more but his face is a bloody mask. He looks like a gored bull. R8 10-9 Pacquiao Pacquiao punch pushed Horn down not ruled a knockdown. R9 10-9 Pacquiao Pacquiao is swinging for the fences smelling blood chasing Horn around the ring. Nice. That eye of Horn's is bleeding and doesn't look good. Love it! R10 10-9 Pacquiao Pacquiao is tired and taking the round off after expending all that energy. I'm not sure if I should give it to him even though Horn didn't do much either. R11 10-10 Even More headlocks than punches land. R12 10-9 Horn Horn outhustling Pac.
