Toney calls out "chicken" Green

Tony didnt really go get his gun then walk back into the gym, it was an off the cuff comment as he was adgitated by Greens lack of respect.

Tony didnt even know who Green was, Green had been hanging around Wild Card gym in hopes Tony would give him some sparring, nothing was pre arranged at all, Green waited it out and he keept asking Roach is Tony in today etc, the rest of the story can be found on the net but needless to say Tony wasnt impressed with Green from the onset. Then when he has toyed with Green and shown him whos boss Green still dissrespects Tony.

The 5 months thing prob wasnt a good example because the adverage joe blow wouldnt know that a boxer whos fighting for a world title should have already done the ground work atleast 6 months prior to fighting for a world title, 5 months out all he really needs to do is maintain what his got, sharpen up some and stay active. I should have used the other comparision but i left that out on purpose for the trolls to feed on! lol worked like a charm :good

 

I don't know what other people were watching but Toney was schooling Green in their famous sparing session. It was like a big brother toying with his little brother in the backyard. The only thing Green really showed was that he is as tough as nails but in no way was he testing James Toney.

 

As much as that may have been the case, Just because Toney mouthed off and made it SOUND like it was easy for him, he copped some big shots and they did hurt him. Its like when the little bro hits the big bro and the big bro shakes it off saying it didnt hurt, coz that would hurt his pride.

 

I guess we will agree to disagree, Green was in the Gym 2 days earlier to spar james and he idn't show then he was in the day before and again James didn't show it was at this stage that green made a remark about James better be here tomorrow or i am comming looking for him ( being Funny ) james was told this and proceeed to be there the next day and not be impressed with Green at all. green was then sledging him whilst they were sparring and he was even more upset. So whether he was hitting him as hard as he could I wont argue with but to say he wasn't upset prior to the spar is wrong

"He started asking me after the first day "Is he gonna show today?' being kind of sarcastic," Roach said. "Green's a nice guy, but he's kind of cocky. On the third day I got a call from James and I told Green, 'James is on his way and he told me to tell you that he's coming to kick your ass."

theres been a few stories of how it happenned from who was there that have been thrown around , i guess a lot of it comes down to opinion, in my opinion dan did a great job, especially when giving away that much weight and taking those shots whilst giving out some great ones also, others may beg to differ :good

Not sure where i was so wrong i said it was on the third day and that James was upset because green said he was comming looking for him. In the second quote james says that Green should stop talking ( expletive ) about him. Now where is that so diffeent from what you said. I got my account over a beer with Green in a bit more detail then a quick internet depiction of the comment. As i said my account and yours seem very similar to me.

The only one minor thing i really was trying to correct you on was this...

James and James managment didnt even know about Green, they were not looking for a Middleweight to Spar James as James is a Heavyweight. Green was basicly LURKING around wild card gym in hopes James would walk in and he would get to spar him, he hassled Roach asking him each day if James was coming in today.

I am not sure if James phoned Freddy or Freddy phoned James but it wasnt until that phone conversation that James even knew of a Danny Green at Wild Card wanting to spar him! Danny never pre-arranged ANY sparring with James and infact went to another gym in the same state and sparred a russian prior to sparring james at wild card!

Green hurt Toney? Good one mate. Sam Peter and Hasim Rahman couldn't hurt old Toney but big bad Green did in sparring? Ridiculous.

Toney was lying against the ropes talking **** and whenever he threw a half-assed left hook Green was getting lifted off the floor and getting bloodied up.

 

Ive noticed many different opinions on the Toney v Green spar.

considering we all watched the same fight is this maybe a reason why some judges can score a fight one way and another judge score it completely different.

i mean a judge only has to be a tiny bit biased toward one guy, for it to affect the way he scores a fight.

Never met mate but your reputation is well known I have looked at a few forums over the past couple of years but only started posting on this one as it seemed to have a good Aussie and international feel others tend to get too one way or the other, so have seen your name pop up from time to time with different things, I started posting here when oneHD were starting and there was going to be a big emphasis on boxing, unfortunatley the Billy Dib fight at Luna Park kinda put a halt on this as the publicity that followed was not good for boxing or one HD.

 

everytime i hear his name and luna park it makes me rage at the opportunities hes ****ed up for so many boxers!

 

Yeah, without knowing the exact reasons why ONE HD gave boxing away, you'd have to think that the Dibb stink was at least part of it - fark!
