Didnt Jones Jnr fail a post fight drugs test against Richard Hall?

But it was all brushed under the carpet.

Mosely should also have the book thrown at him. Boxing is far too tolerant of cheats.

I see Toney waited for the Klitschko-Arreola fight to be pretty much a done deal before mentioning Wladimir's name.

    How very convenient of him.

holyfield didn't deserve a shot either, it was a sham.

at least foreman with some clever match making proved he could still hang in the division, toney hasn't proven a thing since his first bout with peter. sadly there aren't many others out there who have proven much and are ready to fight wlad in may.

:D A poorly regulated entrepenurial (SPELLING?!?) business. If you make people money almost anything can be swept under the carpet.

Not one of them deserves a shot. Holyfield vs Valuev wasn't on RTL. Sauerland Events are broadcasted by ZDF and they didn't do a lot of marketing. Holyfield is still very popular in Germany and everybody was rooting for the old man and that's why the event sold itself.
Toney on the other hand is a nobody in Germany, because none if his fights have been on the major channels. It would be very tough to sell an old and overweight Toney as an ATG and if JT fights like he did against Fres then Klitschkos reputation will suffer even more and that's why it might be easier to make a fight with Arreola. He's young, unbeaten and has backup from HBO while Tney is fighting on versus and some other smaller networks.

You are right, it was indeed on ZDF. Yes, Holy is quite known over there and that helped too.

German people mainly want to see wladi, no matter what his opponent is. Aurolea is also not known over there. I am not so sure an unbeaten but untested fighter sells bettter than an ATG. Of course, Toney must be in shape in order to do a better selling of the fight.

It will sell better, because he's giving them all they need.

    -Young
    -unbeaten
-supposed to be a rising star
    -able to conduct himself
    -supported(hyped) by HBO

You have to consider the fact, that RTL is aimed towards the less educated part of the german society and is famous for a very cheesy kind of marketing. They will make up some nice stories and they will probably repeat everything that HBO said about him.
It won't be a huge fight like Vitaly's comeback but it will be easy to sell, while Toney on the other hand would require a lot of work. JT has to gain some credibility by showing up in peroper shape for his next fight.
If he beats Thompson and looks good doing it, then he might get a shot at one of the Klitschkos.
Until then he should just shut up, because he hasn't had a solid performances since the first Peter fight.

Well, I have to admit that some of those points sound pretty reasonable.

IMO,it would be much more appropriate to make Aurolea - Toney as a eliminator for Klitschko. Toney would have a credible win or Aurolea would have a name on his record.

IMO, Toney beats Aurolea when he shows up under 230. Remember, toney used to school Aurolea at the Wild Card Gym.

Really hope this doesn't happen. I'm a lifelong Toney fan but if this goes ahead he just gets bashed about for 12 torrid rounds. He's too tough to be stopped but he's already taken way too many shots to the head as we can all tell by his slurred speech and this could be the fight that is remembered as one too many. He can't avoid getting hit like he used to, has no pop at heavyweight and is too inactive to win on points. Hang em up mate before you do a jone jnr and destroy your legacy or worse still seriously damage your health.

either Klit would knock Toney out. Why has Toney not fought one of the Eastern European Heavyweights?

    Bottom line.

Arrolea has not faced anybody. He has no recognizable name in his record.

Klitschko has about 55 fights and big time experience. He has faced tough competition which he dominates most of the time and he also has the edge in technique and overall skills. Arrolea has zero chance.

I think he's already passed the last chance saloon. He retires now and he'll be remembered for having a great career and one of the best chins the sport has ever seen. Would be such a shame if he ended up getting stopped. Was sad to see him all battered and bruised after the Peter fight and that was 2 years ago now.
